This is a non-surgical treatment which was developed in Paris.
Under local anesthetic, using a suitable needle and employing a specific hook movement, a large portion of the fibres of the Dupuytren's disease cord is cut through. ... Subsequently ... the finger can be straightened out again. One finger is treated in each session, in order to minimise the risk of infection.
A dressing applied for 2 days is usually the only form of after-care. Work can, as a rule, be resumed the following day.
An important advantage of the technique is that it is done as an out-patient procedure (no hospitalisation) and above all that there is no scarring ... It goes without saying that this technique must be carried out by an experienced practitioner.

I came upon this site by chance and note an error in the e-mail address.
Needle aponeurotomy is indeed a most welcome, non-surgical intervention to straighten the bent finger of Dupuytren's disease. The after-care is very short compared with surgery.
However, it is important to pick the right moment to carry out the procedure: not too soon and especially not too late. For a good result it is important that the specialist who carries it out should have a sound training as well as considerable experience.
At present there are only two medical specialists in Belgium who are trained, namely my French-speaking colleague Dr Roquet in Charleroi (6 years' experience) and myself Dr Marijke Ramaekers working in Brussels (15 years' experience)
