FINGER OR THUMB NAILS

I know this sounds kinda crazy, but has anyone had problems with their nails falling off ?
My doctor said that there is a minute possibility that i may loose a thumb nail due to the radiation hitting the nail bed.

This would just be my opinion....but for a problem to happen with the nail the radiated area would have to go far down the finger to the DIP joint.

When you get RT the rest of the hand (non-radiated area) is well protected.

In my case, only on the index finger did the radiated area go down to the PIP joint....the rest of the RT was on the palm....I had no problems or side effects.

Re: FINGER OR THUMB NAILS

Did you have it in your thumbs? I was surprised when he said i had cords in the thumbs. So i am getting the palm and all fingers to the pip joint except the index fingers they are free of dd. And my thumbs to that middle joint. Does this make any since if not i can explain this again. My left thumb he marked to middle joint and the right thumb he went just a little bit above that joint. Take care

Re: FINGER OR THUMB NAILS

My thumb iss my most affected finger. Most of the rest of my Dups is in my palm. It had many nodules and cords running through. Not the most common way Dups attacks, but hey, that's the way Dups is. So far, my left hand shows some cords but not aggressive yet. In reality, each hand is different.
NA released the cords then I had RT on my whole palm including the first joints of the finger and a little farther up on the thumb, but not the next joint of my thumb

Re: FINGER OR THUMB NAILS

Hi Cindy, why would you have your nail bed radiated? Quite unlikely that you have nodules there, right? With e-beams you can limit the radiated are very well, with x-rays you would use according shielding.
