Ignorance of RT among Professionals?

I've had diagnosed DC for about a month. I've seen 2 hand surgeons and a PT. All react negatively to my questions about RT. I have no contracture & understand that this would be the best time to get RT. They say I should wait for collagenase. But the window of opportunity is small, yes? As a graphic designer, I'm petrified. (No pun intended).

Definitely, now is the time to look into and have RT...In my experience, don't wait until you develop cords or have a contracture... I had RT in one hand and one foot with very good results so far...

Dr. Tripuraneni at Scripps La Jolla and his staff are wonderful for RT.

I fully agree with Luba. Check out RT soon. It was very effective for me in stopping Dupuytren's progression.

Perhaps when you see things progressing and you see the prospect of something invasive being a future probability then that will focus your mind, it certainly did me and a year down the line from RT I've had no progression, in fact the opposite.

Re: Ignorance of RT among Professionals?

My advice would be to get the treatment when nodules are growing as it will have the most impact. If your dups is not actively growing and stable then I would wait until something starts growing. I have had both of my hands radiated and now have a nodule in a pretreated area on one hand where no nodule was prior to treatment and that area cannot be retreated. It was not growing in that area at the time of the initial treatment. I will say that so far RT has slowed things down considerably.

Hope this helps.
