Was wondering why most of you on here that have rt get a mri or cat scan? Is this a common test to have with rt?

They did a CT scan on my hand to determine how deep to send the radiation. At least, that was my understanding. They showed me where the bone was in relation to the nodules. They didn't want the radiation to go into the bone, just through the Dupuytren's tissue.

Ditto for why they did the MRI on my hand. To see how deep to go. I am glad I did the MRI because I have a record of my hand on a medical CD, that is a good baseline if I develope new nodules. In the future I will ask for a CT because I believe it does just as good a job and cost WAY far less. I think Southeast Oncology required a MRI because they are an oncology radiation office and that is standard procedure for them.
