5-Surgery's 1996-Present

I've had Dupuytrens in both hands since I was about 15. Finally got worse and I finally found a Dr. who could tell me it was Dupuytrens. I had about 40 degrees contracture in my "Right" Ring and Pinky. I elected for the surgery in 1996. I was in a 1/2 cast for 2weeks. Then intense theropy. To this day my Ring finger is 100% straight. I had to redo my "Right" pinky again in 11-03. I now have about 20 degrees in my Pinky. It bothers me, But I will hold off on surgery for it. In July 97, I again had about 40 degrees curl in my"Left" Ring and Pinky. Had surgery, on both fingers, did my own theropy, took about 6 weeks to retain most use. Again my Ring finger is Straight, but retained about 50%curl in pinky and again had surgery in 2-02. Again 6 weeks recovery. Then once again, it returned in my" Left" Pinky and had another surgery in 3-05. It is now forming in my Left Index finger, about 20 degree curl, and 30 degree in Pinky. I hate these surgery's but they seem to give me great relief for seems about 3-5 years. I wear a Plastic Splint at nite to keep them from normal fetal curl. I also use a Spring type splint for acouple of hours during the daytime on the affected fingers. I recently read about something called a FIREBREAK GRAFT. I hear it's a skin graph over open surgery incision and is supposed to Slow down recurrance greatly. Has anyone else heard of this. I'm now contraplating having ledderhose surgery done. Hope in some way this can help someone else. I use Pure Vitiman E Oil on my scares, Helps keep them soft and seem to not scar so bad. Hint- It's pure oil, and I wear a sock on my hand to keep it off the furnature.

NA

Why not try NA (needle aponeurotomy)? Advantages: takes only minutes to perform, instant effect, minimal invasive, nearly instant recovery and cheap. Most patients love it!

Re: 5-Surgery's 1996-Present

I had sugery on both hands and feet in 2000. On my hands the surgery was on the last 2 fingers on each hand, I needed to get surgery on the 2 fingers closest to the thumb and even now I need surgery but the Doctor I used moved his practice in 2000 right after the initial surgery. The good news is that it has not returned in the finger I had done. Now the bad news is it did return on the side of my left foot and I had surgery today to fix it. Now this sounds bad but my feet initially were really bad with theknots down the middle of both feet and in the middle and side of the left foot. I asked him why it came back in my left foot, his reply was that you must remove every piece of it off the affect area and he must have left some when he did the surgery in 2000. He told me this time he would remove it and also go back a little to make sure he got it all. I count myself very Blessed to have good insurance and I will take pictures when the dressing comes off. I am also going to look for pictures of my hand that were taken in 2000.
