Aloe vera

Please. please can someone tell me whether its OK to use Aloe Vera gel after radiotherapy. I'm going mad researching the site and the advice is very conflicting. For me it worked a treat after radiotherapy for breast cancer. Can Aloe vera really penetrate the layers of skin right down to the Dupuytrens nodules and encourage collagen growth? I start radiotherapy next week and want to go armed with cream/gel to apply immediately afterwards to prevent any radiotherapy burn and Aloe vera certainly does that. Thank you Garry and Spanishbuddha for your advice on dry skin treatments

Re: Aloe vera

I don't know of any research that says aloe vera will increase Dupuytren's symptoms. Lotions with urea are suppose to help the dryness. I find it REALLY hard to find a lotion with like 10% or more of urea. If you find a source, let us know where.

I did not have a problem with RT causing extreme dryness. I had no more than my usual dry skin. I have tried everything and I more often use the one that feels better. My plan is to start with damp or wet skin, put a layer of lotion, then cover with oil. I use sesame oil. I think oil helps keep the moisture that I've put on the skin from evaporating. That may sound silly, but it makes sense to me.

Are you in the US flojo? Gormel with 20% urea is listed on amazon.com.
