Re: Australia is calling for the first time

Hi Brigit

I live in Brisbane and have also had RT with David Christie at Premion at the Wesley last year. My treatment has been successful so far and details can be found on the thread "Specialist in Brisbane". I too urge treatment while the disease is active and before any contraction. The data strongly supports greater success for treatment at this stage. By all means go to Germany if you can afford it, the German experience is extensive. However the treatment is well described and not complicated and experience is increasing in Australia. I would be happy to talk to you if it would help.

Regards

Stephen

Radiotherapy - when to apply best?

As the question when RT is best applied has been raised I would like to refer to our web site (as usual) and specifically to the section "Radiotherapy - when to apply best?" on http://www.dupuytren-online.info/radiation_therapy.html.

Brigit:
My doctor here wants to do a CT scan before radiation treatment, which will show the whole damage...I wonder if that is always done before starting the RT? Does Prof. Seegenschmiedt uses CT scanning as well to locate the affected areas or what else can be used? How can I contact Prof. Seegenschmiedt and in which city is he located? bye Brigit

CT-scan is not very useful ! Ultrasound is better with regards to the detection of the diosorders of soft tissues; however, the best technology appears to be magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) witz special coils applöied for the hands or feet; I had this done in Hamburg, where Prof. Seegenschmiedt has his clinic; the yuse a 3 Tesla machine which appears to have some advantages in the fine resolution of the soft tissues which are responsible for Dupuytren and/or Ledderhose disease.

Insofar my recommendation is MRI scan ! And physical examination by a doctor with lots of experience ...

Good luck, Larry !

Thanks for all your info, good to know. Still there are more and more questions coming up in my mind, but they have to wait till I come back in 3 weeks time. Till then bye Brigit

Re: Australia is calling for the first time

G'day!

Your not the only one! I have Dupuytren's and live in Australia as well. I am trying to find out if there are any doctors here that specialize in the new treatments for it.

I do have to go back outside now. Please PM me or send me an email if you'd like to talk.

Re: Australia is calling for the first time

Has anyone been treated by Dr Borg in Adelaide? I in the early stage and am also trying to decide on who to see for RT.

I'm in Sydney so as I'm going to have to travel anyway I'm trying to work out who has the most experience doing this treatment.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
