Hi Again-on the Frozen Shoulder-mine has just entered the first pase-restricted movement behind my back-and a little pain in challenging the restriction. At the moment, symptoms are only apparent in the right shoulder and not too painful with no difficulty yet in playing musical instruments.I have contacted a Neil- Asher Osteopath who fortunately practises close to Oxford.I`ll keep you posted on progress with this therapy. The results on the website certainly look impressive--

As with all therapies you don`t really know until you give it a go!!

Re: Frozen Shoulder - Chiropractor

Phil:

For my several episodes of frozen (right) shoulder, over the years I've found it helpful to go to my chiropractor.

The chiropractor manipulates the shoulder & gives me exercises to do (including weight training).

My right shoulder has been good for about 9 months now.

Re: Auxilium Pharmaceuticals Inc. (AUXL)

I have a question...I am signed up with a local doctor who will be one of the doctor's participating in the AA4500. I am starting to get really tired of my contracture...should I wait. I might just need a pep talk.

Thanks all...

Kristine

Re: Auxilium Pharmaceuticals Inc. (AUXL)

I spoke with Dr. Denkler about the injections just prior to his performing a NA procedure on both my hands (1 week later and I am at about 99% function of both hands prior to DC problems appearing. He said the compound was related to gangrene which is very effective in dissolving tissue. A relative of the compound in botox which is also finding medical uses (beyond plastic surgery).

According to people at Stanford the phase III trial is on hold for at least 2 years. The only people that will be admitted are people on the waiting lists for the phase I or phase II trials as they took a limited number of people for the earlier trials due to limited availability of the product.

Auxilum after two failed efforts to have the product produced by others is now starting construction of a new facility to manufacture it in house. This explains the expect two year delay on the phase III trials.

Even if the substance was available there is no data on how effective it is in halting the progression of the disease. It appears to be an effective alternative to a fasciectomy or a NA procedure.

The only procedure that has any history for effectively halting the disease (that I have been able to locate) is radiotherapy which appears to be able to halt the progression 93% of the time. There is a 10 year track record for radiotherapy as applied specifically to Dupuytrens and even more information regarding its efficacy with treating similar fibrosis conditions.
