A cure?? Wonder what it is, as current modalities (surgery, NA) are treatments of a recurring disease, not cures.

The website for "Providence" is extremely vague about who they are and what they really do. If there's no further word from them in a couple fo days, I'd say delete so someone doesn't respond and get taken in by some scam.

I talked to a gentleman at Providence and they *are* enrolling for a Collegenase trial sponsored by Auxilium. He apologized for using the work "Cure" and I changed it to "Treatment" at his request. He seemed to think that is was a Phase I trial, which makes no sense to me. However, he did try his best to recruit me :-) I believe this is the real deal. I'd let this thread remain. Providance is a well known and respected medical provider in California.

I am a rheumatologist in Houston, Texas. We are doing Auxilium's phase three clinical trial now. We are in doing the research in Houston, Texas and are recruiting patients. The drug came last Thursday and we are screening patients now. We are one of only two sites asked by Auxilium to take their digital photos. This is Dr. Sligh with Providence Clinical Research. I apologize that my staff mentioned anything about a "cure" for Dupuytren's and I am glad that you changed it to treatment. We should actually say that this is an "investigational treatment" at present since it is not yet approved in the United States.
We are conducting a study for Auxillium's Clostridial collagenase at our site. We are in the midst of enrolling 16 patients into a study where individuals with a contracture get one injection into the cord and 24 hours later the cord is manipulated to try to get the contracture to release. This is a PK (pharmacokinetic) study, where the individuals stay overnight in our Phase 1 center and we draw blood from a catheter at intervals to see if there is any collagenase in the blood. These types of studies are required by the FDA to understand the safety profile of a drug. We are the only site in the country doing this PK study.
After this study we will do the Phase 3 study where individuals may receive multiple injections to affected areas of their hands.
