ASAP -Need list of insurance companies that DID pay for RT to use in Medicare appeal

What insurance company paid for your RT and what state are you in? Please just list them on posts on this thread.

Finalizing my case on appeal to Medicare to pay for RT that they denied, and I would like to include a list of insurance companies that do pay for RT for Dupuytren's. Want to document as much as possible that it is recognized as "a standard of care among the medical community" for treatment of Dupuytren's Contracture. Also hope it shows that other insurance companies deem it to be "medically necesssary". I'm using some terminology that Lauri sent me that was used in the notice of her winning appeal.

Lauri said she included a list of insurance companies that paid for RT and many states using Blue Cross/Blue Shield paid. She's in Iowa, so I have BCBS of Iowa.

A supervisor at Scripps said he would fight with an appeal from their end and keep me in the loop about what is going on. Haven't heard a thing from him since that first phone conversation with him.

Everybody keep your fingers crossed that this works. Many more will eventually need for Medicare to pay for RT.

I'll get around to reporting on my consultation with Loma Linda University MC. I promise. I've been busy with other stuff, not just the Medicare appeal.

Thanks!

Here is what I was able to come up with as a list for my appeal.
BCBS in Michigan, North Carolina, Alabama, California, Illinois, Oklahoma and now Iowa
Aetna in Colorado and Massachusetts
Regency Blue Shield in Washington State'
Health Net
Cigna PPO
If you want any other info about what I submitted to BCBS let me know.

Flora,

Since BCBS has many different levels of insurance, miine was BCBS Advantage. I own my policy and is not through a company.

Thank you Lori and Gwenth. Hope I can get more to include on my list that I will submit to Medicare.

While the list of medical centers doing it and the list of insurance companies paying for it as a benefit tends to prove that it is a standard of care recognized by the medical community, I hope to find documentation that it is NOT considered experimental or investigative by the FDA.

Lori,

Thanks for your list.

I will be contacting you about how you developed your appeal. Yours was successful, so even though it wasn't Medicare, starting with a process that was successful with an insurance company makes sense to me.

Thanks,

Flora
