Re: Dupuytren's in Florida
I would be the first patient for Loma Linda. The research I referred was not research done by Dr. Katerlos and Loma Linda UMC, but were studies that Dr. Katerelos used to make his determination that 7 days x 3 g is the best protocol.
These are the articles describing the studies that he cited in his letter to Medicare about RT being a standard of care for Dupuytren's. Both articles are by recognized names. Here is the bibliographical information that he put in the letter for me to send to Medicare:
1. Keilholz, L., Radiotherapy for Disease Progression in Early-Stage Dupuytren's Contracture: Initial and Long-term Results. Int. J Radiation Oncology Biol. Phys. Vol. 36. No. 4pp. 891-897. 1996.
2. Seegenschmiedt, M etal, Optimization of radiotherapy for Dupuytren's disease. Stahlenther Onkol, 2001.
He put weight on the fact that the study using 7 days x 3 g used random results (I think it was results that were random, but I'm not sure.) Whatever (results, subjects, or ?), he says random studies are the "gold standard" for research. I don't know much about research, but I have heard about the value of random studies. Maybe somebody can educate me more about the validity of research.
I found the articles somewhere, but I don't have them now. They may even be on this website. If not, maybe somebody could access them and see if they could be published on this site.

Re: Dupuytren's in Florida
Great information in this thread...and I really appreciate all of the details. Good luck today...found out that a nephew of mine is an Orthopedic Surgeon - hands!!!! I will be talking to him tomorrow with my questions...which are mainly about RT...and will post anything I learn.
Was the 7days x 3 g. then repeated or is/was it a one time shot?
Aloha, Carol

Re: Dupuytren's in Florida
The 7 days X 3g is on time only for a total of 21g.

Re: Dupuytren's in Florida
Carol, Do post what your nephew says. Don't be surprised if you have to educate him about NA and RT, and I know you will let him know about this wonderful website.
