Re: Knitting?

The plastic surgeon that did my hand does not do this any more, I had to go to another plastic surgery for the foot. This was the only choice I had unless I wanted to pay out of pocket for the injection $3200.00, because in the US this is not yet covered for the foot, because it has not been approved through the FDA yet. I have to tell you when you have it on the foot you cannot wait for the contracture if you want to be able to walk. There are no other physicians in this area believe me it took 5 years to find this new surgeon that did my foot. I got rejection after rejection, either they we afraid to do anything or knew nothing of this condtion.

Re: Knitting?

After 5 years of rejection or ignorance I got frustrated and went with the plastic surgeon I found last year for my brother, his hands were so bad and he also went through all the rejection and ignorance and gave up, so that is why I first started hunting for a surgeon again, when this appeared on my foot I made a appointment for me. This Plastic surgeon was a god send because we were just about to give up the search. In my brothers words before we found the surgeon was "well I guess I'll just have to deal with it".

Re: Knitting?

How bad was your foot? I have had nodules in my arch for about 12 years. The nodules have almost disappeared now. I don't ever think about them anymore. They were bothering me a lot. I changed shoe type and now never think about them except when walking barefoot.

Re: Knitting?

Bad enough that it was painful, especially if I was on my feet for a long time. The nodule can get quite big not worth taking a chance. I am a kick boxer I can't afford to loose use of my foot. If you are very active I can't imagine you would want to take a chance that walking becomes difficult.

Re: Knitting?

I have heard both sides of the foot surgery discussion. There are many who think that you don't mess with the nodules in feet until it is debilitating. Many have had very poor results from the foot surgery. My nodules hurt, but not real bad. I am glad I did nothing because they are no longer a problem. Climbing ladders, walking barefoot in the sand and walking barefoot up the stairs gave me a burning sensation in my arch. I was probably tearing tissue when doing this.

Re: Knitting?

I also heard both sides but when it comes to my feet that is a whole other story, being on my feet is very important to my lively hood. I had really good luck with the hand surgery so I hope the same will happen with this, I am very active very healthy (I don't even drink) not even socially. I am not ready to sit back and do nothing and wait until it gets so bad I can't walk. Not over something like this, to each their own I guess. Good luck to you with your feet I hope your good luck continues, have a great evening.
