Thumbs up (and apart) on clinical trial?

A clinical trial of xiaflex on thumb and web contractures in Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center in Indianapolis is recruiting. I've begun the process to be accepted as a patient. The trial will accept 10 patients. If you're insured the trial expenses can be covered under your policy, if not insured... like me... costs about 3200$. So...... if its time to strectch the ole webbing, give them a call.

see http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?term=dupuytren%27%27s

Now if I just find a trial for my toe.........

Re: Thumbs up (and apart) on clinical trial?

Please keep me informed. I have had two xiaflex injections in my left thumb with minimal movement. The manipulation is totally different and I will not proceed until there is direction.

Re: Thumbs up (and apart) on clinical trial?

I have participated in the small clinical trial of Xiaflex injections to the thumb webbing conducted by the physicians at the Indiana Hand and Shoulder Center in Indianpolis. The injection was adjacent to my index finger in the webbing on my right hand, with the needle being placed in several locations as the .250mL of fluid was injected. The manipulation of the site was done the next day after painkiler injection, and I heard the band(s) popping. There was some swelling and bruising, but now all is well, and I have doubled my thumb index spread. The contracture is not completly gone as there is a band adjacent to the thumb that was not injected. I've no insurance so the my cost was 3250$. The Doctor waived his fee. I would do it again, but with the substantial personal cost, I am hoping that I can have it done through the UK's NHS system when the drug is finally approved here in the UK.

The Doctor(s) (Dr Thomas Kaplan is the primary researcher) and staff at the Hand center are excellent, and I know that they still need some more folks for the clinical trial.

So... if you're feeling experimental....... Contact them.
