Re: Dupuytren's and chronic dehydration - is there a link?

The computer definitely affects my eyes as I'm sure it does others. But for me, my eyes tend toward dryness whether I use the computer or not. As I said in the begining, during summer vacation I have way too much time on my hands and I tend to think way too much. I know that fascia is like an envelope that covers the entire body - including the eyes - and I was just wondering if all fascia was affected in some way or if it was only that of the hands or feet and like the diagnostician I am, I want to know why. True, you don't always get what you desire. Thanks for your response.

I know using the computer affects eye dryness for me. I try to consciously blink, but I guess sometimes I'm "unconscious" while using the computer.

I know my eye dryness isn't just the computer though.

I'd like to know what the Coconut concoction is that works for dry skin. Does she have a recipe?

I have no diabetes nor pre-diabetes. Hypothyroidisn is about the only thing I have. I take Synthroid and check regularly for the proper level. I do wonder sometimes if my makeup needs more, but then having too much thyroid hormone can be worse.

Low thyroid affects skin dryness and there are indications that it is related to Dupuytren's. Maybe that is the more direct connection.

Hmm... That is interesting in that there is no incidence of Dupuytren's on either side of my family however, by some quirk of DNA I was born with pretty much half a thyroid. My hormone levels are all fine and I do not need to take synthroid or anything like it. But it could have an affect. I wonder if there is a hormone that helps to regulate hydration. Thanks for your input.

I wish I could tell you. She makes it for me and sends it to me for birthdays and Christmas. I might be able to get her to part with the recipe - though. If and when I receive it, I will definitely post it for you.

I Googled and found this recipe:

            Crazy for Coconut Balm
(From Organic body Care by Stephanie Tourles)
Recommended for all skin types except for oily and combination; use daily if desired.
            7 tablespoons coconut base oil
            1-tablespoon cocoa butter
40 drops vanilla or sweet orange essential oil (optional)
In a small pan over low heat or in a double boiler, warm coconut oil and cocoa butter until the butter is just melted. Remove from heat and let cool 15 minutes. Add the essential oil and stir to blend. Pour into storage container(s) and cap. Allow the mixture to set for 2 hours. Apply immediately after a bath or shower while your skin is still damp and massage into your skin. Start with 1 teaspoon at a time since it is highly concentrated.
No need to refrigerate but use within one year.

I"m leaving today for 2 weeks and don't have time to make it. Will look forward to posts if anyone else tries it.

I will email it to my neice to see if that is it. I do know she plays with al kinds of recipes and makes her own shampoos and stuff as well as balms. Thanks and enjoy your vacation.
