How do you know whether to stop rt?

Hello...

I had rt in December. I now have a new nodule in the part of my hand that was outside the margins, but also more growth of a nodule that was radiated. The doctor said that rt has an 85% success rate. I've noticed that some people on the forum go back for additional rt treatments. How do you know if you're just part of the 15% for whom it won't work? It's not cheap to have it done, and I don't want to keep doing it if it's not working, but on the other hand (pun not intended) waiting for contracture and then having surgery is definitely the least appealing option. Thoughts?

If you had 15 Gy so far on the treated area, then you can go another round (if you want). If you received 30 Gy, that's it. Note that this olways refers to the treated area. It's not advisable to have treatment areas very close or overlapping because then you don't know how radiation you received at the edge of the treatment area.

I guess it's an individual decision. I was diagnosed a few months ago and I've read about the different treatments including radiation.... and at this point I'm just learning everything I can about it and how it affects me now and might in the future. I use A MELT excercise program daily and stretch out my hand when I do yoga every moning and night. I'm hoping this will e enough -
This response is probably not helpful to you in the least and I do apologize. I wish you strength in making your decision because I know it will be a tough one. I also wish you peace and acceptance with whatever decision you make. Sorry I can't help more.
