minor trauma?

I just cut a finger mildly, which make me wonder: Can minor trauma such as a simple cut on the hand activate the disease?

The simple answer is yes, but don't panic. I attribute the forming of a first cord in the pinky of my left hand to deep, cleeding cut in the thumb of the same hand a week earlier, and the collagen from the healing process. At that stage last September I had already had a contractuion and NA/PNF in the pinky of my right hand, was a regular reader of this forum, and made the connection. Fortunately the cord has stopped growing, while the nodule has gotten bigger. The other day I stupidly cut the same thumb again, slightly without real bleeding, and nothing changed. So hopefully your slight cut won't have any consequences either, other than making you more aware of the benefit of being careful and do not what I do, but what I recommend: be careful. My main risk area is the kitchen and anything made of metal..

Thanks for the insight. My cut is very shallow just slicing a small section of the outer layer skin off about 3mm wide. Bled briefly then stopped. I'll be watching for changes in the next couple of weeks.

Since I had radiation in Oct & Jan, I have had no progression.

My own experience is different. Cuts, even quite severe ones caused by a box cutter (Stanley knife in UK) just heal and no apparent effect on DD. But trauma due to pressure can initiate new nodules, or aggravate existing ones, examples are poor use of hand tools such as loppers, spanners, hammer drills (or SDS), etc. With the coming spring and summer I have some patio work to do with concrete slabs and disc cutters. That will be a challenge and does concern me. I've already started paying for plumbing jobs I used to take in my stride.

fyi years ago ..I cut my little finger with the point of scissors .... just a few stitches...no big deal but guess what ...that led to Dups ...something I have never heard of prior ....

Perhaps if the cut is deep enough to enter the fascia, it might activate, but if only the skin not?
