Omaha?

Im just wondering who the closest dr.(s) to omaha for NA and radiation treatment are. I have only nodules now but it seems as my condition is progressing slowly. My hand surgeon is located at orthowest(omaha) but i doubt he performs NA, but could be wrong. Thanks

I may have answered my own question by using the links on left side. Although please feel free to add your input, dr. referrals etc.

Re: Omaha?

Deeproot, if you have only nodules NA won't be of any use. NA is a means to break cords that keep your finger in a bent position. Surgery is usually also not done in that stage. Our page http://www.dupuytren-online.info/dupuytr..._therapies.html gives an overview of which type treatment applies to which stage of Dupuytren's.

Re: Omaha?

Thanks wach, yeah I was just kind of curious about my options for future treatments. I kind of suspect I will be going down the road of NA or radiation at some point. My hand surgeon said he would do surgery any time, but i think i will wait and weigh other options.

In my experience, surgeons (I consulted four of them before going the NA & RT route) will always opt for surgery, some will say to wait until your contracture is considerable, and will discourage you from any other means of treatment....but my advice is: keep a close watch on your hands and look out for active disease, i.e. increase in numbers of nodules, formation of dimples or cords in your hands, itching and burning sensation.... if any of this occurs, look into and opt for RT and/or NA before doing surgery.... you always have time to do surgery in the end.

Re: Omaha?

Hi there,

Just wanted to share my experience with my orthopedic doctor. His name is Dr. Izadi and he works at Methodist Health West. He is one the few doctors that I have met who does not PUSH for surgery. We worked together on my situation which was not getting any better with other non-surgical treatments. Finally when I was ready to have surgery, he booked me for the very next day and I have been extremely satisfied with the results. Maryann

Re: Omaha?

Cool, thanks. I have been talking to my doctor at orthowest and I am considering surgery for the lump on my left hand. It is so pronounced that is bothers me at work now. I still have no contracure but this nodule is getting in the way. I have tried cortisone therapy twice and NA is not an option. I feel radiation is too early as well because I may want to use this in the future.

Re: Omaha?

Operating even on a HARD NODULE will stimulate the disease ! Don't do it !

And if you do so, be prepared to rush to get a radiation therapist to do the treatment quickly therafter to pick up the progressive disease occuring almost weeks after surgery ...

I may be a bad prophet, but would wonder if it would not occur as I have experienced it on my feet! Take a good course, Larry

Re: Omaha?

deeproot,

I am very surprised that any surgeon with experience with Dupuytren's would do surgery on a nodule on your hand. Are you confusing your "nodule" with a ganglion cyst? It sounds like it from your comments.

Re: Omaha?

I have the name of a radiologist that did RT on my DD in Des Moines, if you decide that you want RT and can't find a doctor in Omaha.
