Spanish information.

Hello,

I am writing from Spain. I have not developed the Dupuytren (yet) but I am always wondering if the pain I feel in my hands is related to it. My father has DC, he started at his sixties and has had two surgery times. I am at my 50s and it is time to be aware of the DC details.

In Spain nobody knows and nobody talks about DC and I don't know if we have experiencied doctors to advise us what's the best thing to do and how to act at every stage. I would like to create a kind of Asociation of Dupuytren in Spain to improve the information of the people and the Public Administration awareness in order to tackle DC in better shape.

Do you know if there is any place in the world where hand doctors can go and learn about DC?

Any indication on the places where you can get RT and NA in Europe and in all the world? I do not know if you have it, but we could easily build it up with the information we supply. We could rate doctors and hospitals with our experiences.

Thank you

Re: Spanish information.

My parents were Spanish and I have developed Dupuytren's in one hand. I live in the UK and am English by country of birth, but cannot escape the good or bad genes

Maybe Wolfgang will chime in but I think he told me that it is quite common in Spain. I don't see any clinics listed, under Treatment on this site, using NA or RT in Spain so your idea to create a local organisation is excellent.

Re: Spanish information.

The only publication on Dupuytren's in Spain that I am aware of http://www.dupuytren-online.info/dupuytr...stribution.html finds about 5-10 % prevalence in Spain. Certainly not all of them need treatment but the total number might still be high.

Javier, are you aware that, since this weekend, we also offer a Spanish forum? No posts yet but maybe worth starting it!

Wolfgang

Re: Spanish information.

Thank you for your words spanishbuddha and wach,

I already wrote in the Spanish forum. Nobody answered yet, but I started the thread. I'll try to be active on it, even if I am very busy. I think it is important because it is not a well known desease in Spain and treatments are not as good as they should be. We are in a deep crisis nowadays in Spain, but we still have the strength to do well in the important things.

I will try hard. I would love to help with it in Spain because I guess we do not have any doctor here informed well enough about Dupuytren.

Thanks
