Stress and DD

My DD has been going crazy lately, palms itching like mad. I attributed this to recent vigorous hand rehab exercises following a fracture.

I also have a 31 year old son with severe learning difficulties. Recently I`ve been experiencing mega levels of stress through dealing with problems with his care provider.

This week I had a visit from a member of my local carers support team. After talking to him for an hour about my son and his CP, he was just leaving when I showed him my hands and commented on the itching. Imagine my amazement when he told me that many of the carers that he visits also have the same condition! He also said "Yours aren`t too bad yet"

I`ve though for some time that there was a connection between stress and my DD (and other health issues) although it`s not always easy to avoid this.

More yoga less worrying!

Re: Stress and DD

Hello,
I'm no doctor or expert for that matter. I have not heard of a connection between stress causing DD or making it worse. To my understanding DD is a connective tissue disorder. I recently went to a rheumatologist. hoping to find out what if any is the underlying cause of a connective tissue disorder. I had tons of blood work, bone density test and hand x-rays. i return Feb 17th to discuss the results if any.

Re: Stress and DD

I do belief that stress plays a factor in activating DD or LD. In my case LD started to become an issue when my son was deployed to Afghanistan. Talk about stress! No doubt in my mind that played a role.
