After my first surgery, I went to a medical supply place in Vancouver where I bought a spring splint from a guy who I think was from Scotland (this was a long time ago).

He told me he'd heard of an old treatment that consisted of putting the effected hand in a kind of glove (I think he called it a "Boston Glove" but I've been unable to find this term anywhere). It actually sounded like some kind of mitten type thing that fitted around the hand when the fingers were loosely flexed and prevented them from being extended. He said that the contraption was worn for several months and when removed, the hand which had previously been contracted could now be opened.

I would guess that the idea was that the dupuytren's was a response to longitudinal stress on the fascia and dupuytren's tissue and that if the stress was removed for an extended time, the response would reverse.

Sounds too good to be true and probably is. If the technique was ever tried, it probably didn't work.

Has anybody ever heard of this.
