Can anyone recommend Dr. Ross Nathan?

Has anyone had NA with Dr. Ross Nathan in Long Beach, CA? If so, I would appreciate your comments about your experience and results.

Re: Can anyone recommend Dr. Ross Nathan?

G'day form DownUnda, I had NA procedure with Dr Ross N at the end of last March. Read my profile on this site. It's now 8 weeks ago and my hand is improving every day. I was playing guitar 4.1/2 hrs after the NA. It's like I was 6 yrs ago - not back to my 20s prime but going along well enough to fool most of the people most of the time. My musician mates remember how I was then but they also remember what I was like 3 mths ago - hopeless. No, I have my profession back thanks to Dr Ross and his team. The whole experience was a breeze. I couldn't believe the outcome and I still can't, considering how uncomfortable my hands were. Every day, I feel I'm getting better. I do have symptoms in other fingers on both hands - nothing to do with my NA - but I will most certainly return when the time is right and before I lose my playing again. All in all, a great outcome for me and a definite success story for Dr Ross.

Thanks for the information...I live in Los Angeles and it would be a short drive to Long Beach if I need to use him in the future. I am currently in San Francisco and have an appointment with Dr. Denkler tomorrow for NA on small left finger, but will consider going to Long Beach next time.

Guitarzrgo,

Happy your NA was so successful... Just curious, how many degrees was your contraction and which finger/joint was affected?

G'day LubaM, thanks for your interest. As for degrees - little finger, 75 degrees and ring finger 45. Both are now straight. Yesterday I was able to reverse bend the little finger to about 10 degrees for the first time since the procedure. I'm over the moon! Guitarzrgo.

The immediate results are excellent, now it remains to be seen if it will last. The procedure was uneventful, this being my third NA (twice previously on right hand pinkie, and first time on this one...left hand pinkie) I can easily say it was the least painful. Dr. Denkler is a wonderful, caring, knowledgeable and very experienced doctor who has done NA longer than any doctor on the west coast and is always ready to try new techniques to improve the results of the procedure.

In my case there was lots of puckering on the palm just below the small finger and after cutting the cord and straightening the finger at the PIP and DIP joints, he then inserted the needle in the palm just under the skin and released the puckering with a side to side motion, thus lifting the skin in the palm in the hopes that by relieving the puckering it will help maintain the finger straight after the NA. It is an additional thing he says he's trying out.

Five days after my NA, the finger is straight although there is a bit of swelling in the PIP joint and in the palm where he released the skin. I started PT and exercises and I am hoping that the extra bit of release he did will help prevent recurrence of the PIP contraction. With my RH pinkie it came back "twice" within six months after the NA procedure. Results are so individual, no matter what procedure you do !! If this NA with the release of puckering in the palm gives me longer lasting results, I will definitely go back and try the RH pinkie one more time.

I would highly recommend Dr. Denkler.
