Dr. Denkler, Dr. Andreas Eisenschenke and Donations
Hello,
I'm MarkS (American living in Germany) and recently wrote into the forum for help with post Dup OP problems--even though I did not need the surgery-one nodule, no cord, no contracture, no pain, etc., just bad doctor and bad advice and now CRPS. Recently learned I'm 4 hours by train to place to get radio therapy for people in 1st stage DUP. Guess I don't qualify for that anymore. To add insult to injury--and possibly to give a laugh to the forum at the expense of my hand and health- I recently got a bill from the hospital that housed this circus and it said "DUP CONTACTURE, LEFT HAND"!! Yep, wrong hand and wrong diagnosis--it was right hand, only DUP. Stinks more that I'm right-handed and used to be a training partner with a profesional tennis player--620th in the world back in late 80s--I'm 42 and used to be an avid tennis player before this. Total nightmare from A-Z. I'd love to see a judge in America handle this to secure medical coverage for my hand in the future if needed, but here, even with all this proof of negligence, there is "still" a high risk of losing a court case and if you win you receive literally peanuts. I "might" win the cost of a first physical therapy visit if needed. My problem is so biazarre and ironic at times it's surreal, if that makes any sense.
Anyway, I recently spoke with Dr. Denkler in California. He was more than helpful trying to assist me and even insisted I call him back in a month to let him know how I am doing with my post op symptoms, even though I am not his patient and thousands of miles away. This is a far, far cry from the treatment I recently received from Dr. Andreas Eisenschenke, current president of the DGH (Deutsche Gesellschaft Fur Handchirurgie-German Association of Hand Surgery). I printed out their guidelines to follow for DUP surgery before they temporarily closed their website for reconstruction that call for "trying other therapies before surgery, presence of a cord and-or pain, contracture 20 degrees or more, etc. to warrant surgery" and asked him about their guidelines and if that was official protocol, and also to recommend a good hand doctor to help with post op problems. He got real quiet when he figured out the doc who cut me made a mistake, and hung up on me in the middle of a question. He's probably busy right now changing the protocol to allow surgery "when your finger is bent negative 20 degrees". After all this, it would not surprise me at all. I've already heard from 3 lawyers here that they protect each other like wolves. A judge told me this as well.
Regardless, I really appreciate the help Dr. Denkler and Wolfgang have given. I asked Dr. Denkler if I could pay him for his time, and he refused, but said I could donate to this forum. I do not make much money, as I am an English instructor for kids, but I would like to donate. Can anyone assist me in making a donation?
Thanks,
MarkS
