enSonix@home ~ Sound-based Treatment

Hello Everyone,

My first post to this group. I hope the moderator will allow me to mention a new device my company, HealthSonix, markets that has had excellent treatment outcomes with a number of people with Dupuytrens and Ledderhouse. As a result, I'd like to further explore the potential of this medical device in treating Dupuytrens Contracture by offering it free to a number of people in this forum in exchange for participation in a pilot research study.

In an arthritis clinic here in Toronto we had been applying sound pressure wave treatments to people with persistent pain and muscle stiffness and getting good results with osteoarthritis and other arthritic conditions. Based on our clinic experience we noticed our very best treatment outcomes were with osteoarthritis of the hands and we advertised this fact. A woman of Scottish descent heard the commercial and thought if it helps osteoarthritis of the hands it might be worth trying for her Dupuytrens. She came to our arthritis clinic, took the clinic treatments and ultimately purchased our FDA-registered device, the EnSonix@home, which applies the sound pressure waves to body tissue through two sound pads applied to the skin surface.

The enSonix@home is registered under Physical Medicine, Therapeutic Vibration and is a Class One, the safest category for medical devices. It is non-invasive with virtually no side effects. The official indications of use is for the relief of aches, pain and muscle relaxation.

The enSonix@home appears to be most effective when the medical condition is connected or related to scar tissue and/or muscle stiffness. I have numerous case reports but they are not related to Dupuytrens.

Well fast forward to June 2007 about one and a half years later.... I followed up with this Scottish woman a few weeks ago. She told me she is still applying the sound treatments, her hand is completely clear of all nodules and she has use, flexibility and range of motion back and is now playing the piano for the first time in years. She had been through two surgeries; she had tried many treatments and now claims she's cured of her Dupuytrens. Well, I doubt she's cured but I am impressed enough by her excellent experience and enthusiasm for our product to consider a small pilot study.

So if you'd like to participate and you can email me a digital image of your hand with Dupuytrens disease and a brief one paragraph history of your condition I will consider you for our pilot study. Your information will be forwarded to our Medical Department for further review.

Re: New Website for UK Dupuytrens

Gerry:

Our Moderators are good guys, with common sense.

Your post was well written, and clearly not objectionable.

Good luck.

Mark

Re: enSonix@home ~ Sound-based Treatment

If successful (i.e.: showing results against Dups) this device will be for sale and our current position may need to be reevaluated. However, this initial post by Gerry on behalf of HealthSonix is merely recruiting volunteers for an informal test of their device. Because the device is offered at no charge, we have decided to allow it. We are not endorsing or recommending HealthSonix or it's products. Nevertheless, the moderators of this Forum are very much in favor of testing and evaluating alternative treatment methods.
