Re: failed NA ?
Hi Luc, My husband had NA on June 28th. His condition was so far along, that the Dr. thought that he might need to come back at a later date for another treatment.
Dr. Kline gave my husband two splints. He said that my husband should try to use them after 3 to 5 days.
I watched the Dr. break the cords and straighten the fingers. Before the procedure the bands were so tight that the fingers could not be bend, no matter how much pressure was applied. So I know that physically, the bands are broken, but my husband could not straighten his fingers on his own. The Dr. stated that the knuckles have grown in a curved position and the splints are to train the knuckles to go back to a straight position.
Since he started wearing the splints he has seen a big improvement in his fingers. We don't have insurance, but since the splints are working so well, I can see how much of an improvement physical therapy would make.
By the way, has anyone told you to stay away from glucosamine? The doctor said that they have found that glucosamine causes the cords to tighten faster.
Good luck, Sandie
