I had NA last month

I've had DC for a few years now and have been following this forum for awhile. My little finger on my right hand finallly got to the point where I had to do something (it got close to 90 degrees). I've procrastinated because I didn't want conventional surgery and the nearest doctor doing NA is about 300 miles away and my insurance wouldn't cover the cost. Well last month I had NA done by Dr. Pess in NJ. Everything went well and I was using my hand gingerly within hours. The only problems were the fact that being bent so long resulted in the skin on my palm contracting resulting in some splitting when my fingers were straightened and the other problem is the first joint at the base of my finger. This was again because of the limited movement it was getting. It gets pretty sore and is probably more of an arthritic pain. BTW I'm 63. For a while now I've had nodules forming in the palm of my left hand but there is only a small amount of contraction. On this hand I can bend my fingers back 45 degrees so I may not have a problem for a while.

Now ... some questions:

My wife recently went to her Chiropractor/physical therapist and she mentioned the NA that I had done. He was familiar with DC because his mother has it. He mentioned treatment with ultrasound ... does anyone have experience or information about this? I did some internet searches but couldn't find anything except references to old papers on the topic. The other thing he mentioned was "Gua Sha" which appears to be an Asian procedure of massage. He said that the procedure for DC employs a massaging tool and a specific pattern to follow in working the nodules. Again, anyone know anything about this? I'd like to try to do something to head off the progression of DC in my left hand if possible.

Well, thanks in advance...
Larry

Re: I had NA last month

Larry,

I've been thinking of using Dr. Pess for NA for awhile also. My trip will be around 300 miles too. Where did you drive from?

Thanks,

Joe
