I would say agressive.

Thank you Chris and Randy for the info. I guess you would say my DC is aggressive. I didn't see any nodules that everyone talks about. I had a frozen shoulder that lasted a year. As soon as that was ok, my hand started swelling. This was in April 06. The end of April , my pinkie and ring finger had a 90D contracture. In May my middle was down, and by Thanksgiving, my index finger. I went to 5 different drs. They all said they didn't know what was going on. I had x-rays, mri's, and nerve conduction test. One dr. told me if the predisone didn't work, there was nothing else he could for me, because my test were normal. I told him, he examined my hand and it was not normal. He hung up on me. Another orthepedic surgeon said he could do surgery but it wouldn't straighten my fingers, because something else was going on.
I believe the frozen shoulder had a lot to do with it, even though they said it didn't, because my left arm is now 6in. shorter than my right, and left hand is a fist.
I have an appt. on Fri. with another orthopedic surgeon, but am a little reluctant to go, because i am so tired of hearing, { I dont know}, but they don't mind charging you to say that.
7 months and $10,000 later, still no help.

Re: I would say agressive.

Hi Rae, My name is Sandie. My husband had the NA procedure done on June 28th by Dr. David Kline.

I didn't see what Randy's reply was to you, but I was wondering if you have seen an NA Dr.? It sounds like you need to do something right away, but I think surgery should be your last course of action.

I contacted Dr. Kline over the phone. He had me send pictures of my husband's hand and we did the initial consultation over the phone and internet.

He has been a wonderful doctor. Very caring and compasionate and the fact that he has Dupuytren's, you know that he really does understand what you are going through.

The only regret my husband has is that he didn't have the procedure done sooner.

Dr. Kline's website is

http://www.dupuytrenscenter.com

I found that the best way to get in touch with him is over the phone. They are very good at returning your calls.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Sandie

In a Perfect World

rae:

I have had a bout with Frozen Shoulder as well. Painful I must say but I am now 100%. FS and Dups are related as similar connective tissue disorders.

In a perfect World where $ was no issue and both expert OS and NA were available down the street, you would be well advised to try the least invasive procedure before moving up the ladder of treatment to traditional invasive OS.

However, it is true that the more invasive forms of the disease are not well suited for NA. When this is the case I believe one should go straight to the ultimate, which includes skin graphs. The idea is to save the hand after all, and in your case that seems quite the point.

I would seek medical advice from those who have extensive experience in *both* NA and OS. Eaton is the #1 doc on the planet currently. I'd seek his advice. He will offer the best medical advice possible.
