just got diagnosed

Hi. I just got diagnosed with this condition yesterday. I have a small bump on my left palm, but nothing on my right palm. I saw there was a society for this so I thought I'd log on and say hi to my new brothers and sisters (but mostly brothers I guess). I'm just absorbing all this information now, but it doesn't seem to be too bad of an affliction. At least compared to my brothers genetic defect; Marfans. I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a link between Marfans and Dypuytren — they both affect connective tissue — but are they related in anyway? Thanks!

Re: just got diagnosed

Australia Calling Hi Stefan. From the reading I've done the only link with Marfans and D.d is that they are inherited, and they do no know all that much about curing the disease.D.D only has effect on hand whereas Marfans effects many parts of the body.

Re: just got diagnosed

I was just diagnosed in March with one nodule and have already got them spread across my palm, but I don't have contracture. Males are supposed to have it more often than females, but I am female (63 yo)and have 3 sisters with Dups. My brother has not noticed it yet, but he is much younger than the sisters. We have no idea if anyone else in the family has had it. Our parents are deceased. It is uncomfortable at times if I press on the palm, steering wheel, shoping cart handle, opening bottles you have to press and turn. Good luck!
