NA in Los Angeles - Dr. Benhaim Suggested

In the BioSpecific's Dupuytren's Disease Patient Discussion Forum on 6/8/2006 Mark wrote:

Hi All:

I'm happy to give a stellar report about Dr. Prosper Benhaim, a UCLA Certified Hand Surgeon.

I met with Dr. Benhaim yesterday about my Dupuytren’s Disease, and was very impressed. He is bright, caring, open-minded, and friendly.

Regarding Dr. Benhaim’s experience with NA: Dr. Benhaim has been doing NA for almost one year. In that time, he has done approximately 20 NA Procedures, including some procedures on PIP joints.

Dr. Benhaim was trained for NA by Dr. Keith Denkler. Dr. Benhaim was very complimentary about Dr. Denkler’s skills. Dr. Benhaim also said that because of the excellent training he received from Dr. Denkler, he does not feel that it is necessary for him to travel to France for NA training.

At the outset of our meeting, I told Dr. Benhaim that I had already planned a trip to San Francisco to have the NA procedure done by Dr. Denkler. Much to his credit, Dr. Benhaim said that he would not want to discourage me from seeing Dr. Denkler. In fact, Dr. Benhaim offered to send to Dr. Denkler his report on our June 7 meeting. Dr. Benhaim also offered to be my “local” CHS to work in conjunction with Dr. Denkler on post-NA matters.

Bottom Line: I definitely will continue to see Dr. Benhaim.

If I had not previously decided to travel to San Francisco to have Dr. Denkler perform the NA, then I would have had Dr. Benhaim do the NA in Los Angeles.

As it is, I feel blessed to have Dr. Benhaim there to see me on an on-going basis. After all, it’s a heck of a lot easier for me to get from Orange County to Los Angeles than to San Francisco.

To all of my fellow Dupuytren’s Disease sufferers in Southern California, I strongly encourage you to see Dr. Benhaim. The phone number to call for appointments is 310-319-1234.

Good luck.

Mark

Hi Y'all:

I just heard from another new N.A. patient of Dr. Benhaim's.

She gave Dr. B. a rave review!

Hi, I had NA performed by Dr. Benhaim last Friday 02/23/2007 and am very pleased with the results. Dr. Benhaim did a great job and I couldn't be more satisfied.

In addition there was another physician in attendance learning the procedure.

Many thanks to Mark for his good recommendation.

Hi Chuck:

You're welcome.

We are blessed to have a great N.A. Doc like Dr. Benhaim in Southern California.

And my thanks to you for spreading the work about Dr. B.

Update re Dr. Benhaim’s N.A. Practice:

Hi Y'all:

Just want to pass along some good news about Dr. Benhaim's N.A. practice in Los Angeles.

Last week Dr. Benhaim told me that he has seen increasing interest in the N.A. procedure. In fact, he is now receiving 4 to 5 inquiries per week about the procedure.

He has lately been performing five to seven N.A. procedures per month.

Dr. B. told me that his N.A. patients seem to be happy with the results, and that they appreciate the fact that he has added N.A. to his hand surgery practice.

Furthermore, Dr. Benhaim told me that he personally is very happy that his N.A. practice has picked up. He said that doing N.A. procedures has been "gratifying" for him for three reasons: (i) he can see the results immediately; (ii) N.A. involves "so much less pain” than does Open Surgery; & (iii) N.A. has a much faster recovery process.

I’m biased, because I’m Dr. Benhaim’s happy patient.

I’m delighted with the care that both Dr. Benhaim & Dr. Denkler (whom I see when I’m in Northern California) have provided to me.

If you have to have Dupuytren’s Disease, California is a good place to live. We’ve got a great hand surgeon in the south (Dr. Benhaim, of UCLA), and another great one in the north (Dr. Denkler, of UCSF).

I hope this missive helps.

Re: NA in Los Angeles - Dr. Benhaim Suggested

I had my NA by Dr. Benhaim about 3 weeks ago (03/28).

It's completely healed, although still a little puffy around the nodule. It was at least a 50 degree contracture with the pinky, and 30 degree contracture with the ring finger, plus another unusual band forming across my palm toward my thumb.

Not only do I pass the table-top test now, but I can lift my pinky and ring finger off the table while my palm is flat--nearly an inch!

I was very impressed by Dr. Benhaim and his medical staff, and I'm very happy with the result.

Of course, only time will tell...
