I'm in Seattle so Vancouver isn't too far. There is a hand surgeon in Tacoma (50 miles south) that does NA but only in the palm. I have it in my little finger, apparently a bit more difficult.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I had the NA on left index finger on Dec 5 at the Cambie Surgery Centre in Vancouver. As far as I am concerned, the procedure is great and I don't hesitate in recommending Dr. Gropper, who performed it.

Before the surgery, the PIP angle of the finger was about 65%. I would guess that the angle on the top of the finger is now about 20%, but on the underside of the finger it is less (some of the apparent angle on the upperside seems to be the result of some deformation of the knuckle).

As the dupuytren's was limited (since 1990) on that hand to the single finger, only that finger was done in the procedure. Four areas were NA'd: 2 between the palm and the PIP, and 2 above the PIP. When the remaining cord was snapped the finger straighted dramatically. The procedure only took about half an hour (although an hour was set aside for it).

Two days later I was able to start playing the guitar again, although there was still some swelling. 10 days later I returned to work (making cheese). There is still some tightness on extreme flexion, which I only notice when playing the guitar.

I have had 1 previousl z plasty on the left little finger and 3 on the right hand. In my opinion, the NA is superior as far as straightening the fingers goes:
1) hardly any down time
2) much less pain
3) straightening for me was actually more successfully that with conventional surgery (my other remaining affected fingers - right little finger is amputated - have greater angle)

Who is the doc in Tacoma that does NA. I would be greatful to have medical procedure done closer to home.

I have b een to Toronto 3 times for NA with Paul Binhammer. My disease is agressive and is right back to almost the palm in 3 months.
I am curious about the Vancouver Doctor. How long has he done NA? Do you have a phne number for that special clinic you mention? I live in northern BC and Vancouver would be so much cheaper for me to go.
