NAC (N-acetyl L cysteine) ????
I haven’t read lately anything about the informal trial of people using NAC to treat Dupuytren’s. I read the report several months ago that only cited the experiences of 7 males. I am female and faxed a report on my experience to Dr. Eaton before the online report was made, but perhaps it got lost along the way.
I have very aggressive DC in both hands and I am convinced that NAC has stopped it in its tracks. I have had NA procedures more than 10 times in the past 7 years and traditional surgery on my left pinky 2 years ago. I got knuckle pads at 35 and aggressive lumps and cords starting at 47. I am now 55.
I started taking 600 mg. of NAC twice a day on April 1, 2007. Since then I have had no further growth and by September the nodules and cords on one hand had softened dramatically enough for the ring finger to straighten slightly. While it is certainly possible that I am simply in a remission that was already on the way and that the growth may accelerate again, I plan to continue taking the NAC and would encourage others to give it a try. Good luck to all. Kristen

Out of the Norm
klm2050
It is my understanding that when this disease goes into remission that *usually* doesn't mean that it is in regresses. It means that it is dormant. If you are sure that your diseased tissue is softer and cords less tight that probably means that something is happening out of the norm. That would be exciting.

Re: NAC (N-acetyl L cysteine) ????
Over the last 10 years I must have seen a hundred posts from people who'd tried some supplement for a few weeks and felt that the "nodules were a lttle softer." And zero from people who'd actually regained range of motion.
So, my fingers are crossed (figuratively and literally, as my bent-up left pinky now collides with its neighbor) and I hope your apparent improvement continues.

I am interested in NAC, but first, I would like to know the theory behind it regarding DC.
Has anyone researched this?

Re: NAC (N-acetyl L cysteine) ????
I was just diagnosed with DD this week. Am beginning my journey into information, support & resources. Has anyone tried the DC Treatments mentioned? http://www.dupuytrens-contracture.com/ I'm apparently not "ripe" enough to be operated on, but am about 10 years ahead of schedule for pain & size of node. Any guidance is appreciated.

Re: NAC (N-acetyl L cysteine) ????
This site seems to market anything that can be sold in conjunction with Dupuytren's. The treatments offered are not established, to say the least. I would tend to consider them mostly junk, see comments in this forum and also http://www.dupuytren-online.info/dupuytren_anecdotal.html.

forget that site
It's a complete scam. Absolutely none of those 'treatments' will have any effect other than reducing your bank balance.

Question
I am just learning about this DD, as I was just diagnosed. I am fairly into nutritional supplements, but I want to be careful & not do or take anything that will speed the contractures, either. I'm sorry if my question comes across as unintelligent, but I'm very new to this... I also have arthritis & some other issues, & I have found a liquid glucosamine/chondroiton formula that is pretty effective at stopping the arthritis pain. My question is this...Are there any known risks for DD sufferers associated with glucosamine/chondroiton supplementation? Thank you. I appreciate the feedback. Second & final question...yesterday my Ortho Specialist suggested I have something done to my hand involving radio waves. He said it is simply a treatment, but it will soften the contracture & temporarily relieve some of the symptoms. Do any of you know of this, & if it is effective? Again, thank you. I'm grateful for any light you share on this for me.
