nashville tennessee radiation therapy
Does anyone know where one can get radiation therapy in nashville tennessee? I thought I saw a comment on that, but now I can't find it. Also, does anyone know about whethere CIGNA insurance pays for RT?

Just to inform you (as I was told in March that I have DD and Ledderhose) that a suggestion was made to look for someone in the area where I live to do the radiation. After months of calling radiation oncologists in my area,found no one willing to do the RT. Then I called Vanderbuilt Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, TN. Not only is it ranked in the top 25 for cancer treatment, but is also a research and teaching facility. God answered many prayers and will start radiation on Monday the 11th. The Dr. and the whole staff were as excited as I was and am so grateful. I will be his first DD and Ledderhose patient and I am hoping he will continue to do research with other patients. Yes it is ashame that people here in the US go to Germany for treatment when we have excellent facilities and physicians that could provide RT for those who choose this route of treatment.
I wish you the best of luck and all you can do is be persistient in your quest in finding an "radiation oncologists" to help you.

Clearly THEY ARE ENTHUSIASTIC ! Its their FIRST EXPERIENCE ... glad that you are the BUNNY ?
Let us know how THE FIRST PATIENT was examined (palpation, utrasound ?), treated (single dose, total dose) and followed by the doctors (documentation etc.) in the FUTURE ---> may be in 5 years we know HOW GOOD the treatment really was !

Larry, I am not sure what is going on with you, but you do seem to have a negative (not well meaning) response to what others have posted. Sorry but not all of use can afford to go to Germany and have that great vacation along with getting treatment. I am very proud that I was able to find a specialist (oncologist) who was as willing as I was to do RT. And I will be more then glad to let you know how it turned out in 5 years. Along with being 59 am raising my 11 year old grandaughter (in middle school) on disability which makes it impossible to travel. So please show a little respect for those of use whom has chosen RT, but to have it here in the USA. Thank you

I do not think anyone should be put off from seeking RT in their home city provided there is a sympathetic radiologist who reads the literature. This not a complex treatment and can be safely (and successfully in my case) conducted in any experienced radiology clinic. The challenge is finding the radiologist who is aware of the treatment and is willing. The process is well described so it is possible to go armed with the papers from the literature.
My suggestion is to do due diligence on the specialist and not be put off by being the first patient. I would much prefer being a radiologists first radiology DD patient than the xxx surgical patient.
As an earlier correspondent stated, not all of us can afford to go to Germany. I would add that we do not need to.

Thank you for your positive input as I did search in my area Knoxville, but no one willing to do the RT. My daughter lives in Nashville, TN., so I called Vanderbuilt Ingram Cancer Center and they have been wonderful. Where did you get tx. and what did you do the 3gy x 5days and wait 6 weeks then another 3gy x 5 days? Please let me know how your hands and feet felt afterwards as mine (after 1st tx.) do not feel any different. Thank you for your reply.
