Re: Pain and Dupuytren's

Day 2 of taking the anti-inflammatories and I woke up this morning with my fingers being noticeably less stiff which I am taking as a good sign. Not much pain today although a little tingly.

I did notice however that my armpit was a bit stiff/tight when I woke up. Not the shoulder but if you think about the two tendons you have in your armpit, the one is closer to your chest and the other is closer to your back. Well, the one closer to my chest is little stiff, like a did a whole lot of exercise to it or something (which I didn't). May have just slept funny or something so being positve about it (for now).

Don't worry, I am not going to give a day by day diary of my DC but I said I would let you know the results of the anti-inflammatories so I have. I will give it some time and report back a little further into the course.

I too will keep informing, and focus on not worrying.

Re: Pain and Dupuytren's

Hi Susan, the best advice for Dupuytren's is maybe this: don't let this stupid disease spoil your life. It's just not worth it.

Re: Pain and Dupuytren's

When dups. first started back in 98 I noticed no pain at all..Now I do feel itching and stiffness in my little finger..I did have it released by Dr. Eaton in 04..but am looking at a repeat...Yes..itching, a feeling of redness, a prickly feeling ssometime and also a little stab ..like a nerve ending.....and pulling and stiffness..I have come to relize that if the doctor does not deal with this desease all the time..They know nothing.

Re: Pain and Dupuytren's

Hi Susan..
When I first got this desease I had noo idea what the hell it was..I went to a reputable hand surgeon in Newport Beach, Ca. He said come back in 3 years and do surgery......I ran to my computer to look up information on this desease and to make a long story short..I founjd this god sent of a forum..
I watched it for about a year thinking I was going to have to go toFrance..I went to Dr. Eaton when he started doing N/A/..GOD BLESS THIS MAN!!! HE has given us hope.....
Do not pay any attentiion to other doctors that recommend traditional surgery..They are not up to date...
Contact Eaton in Florida....www.thehandcenter.org..or Klein in Idao or Dr. Dinkler or Banheim in L.A. or any of these good doctors that are advancing in this desease....and YES..I DO HAVE PAIN IN MY ARMS..not all of the time and it just started about the same time I noticed my feet...There has to be a connection..If you doctor does not know about N/A/ forget him or her....RUN FOR THE DOOR

Re: Pain and Dupuytren's

I have a question on restless legs..or something that I have noticed..I stopped my xanax after 30 years..cold turkey in Feb..just did not want to take it any longer and have no desire to take it..I have noticed that at this time my restless legs got alot worse...severe jerking of my legs and other muscles at night..It seems to start just as I relax...it was not this bad before..also this is the time I started noticing a lump in my sole of foot and tingling of feet and sometimes legs..What or how does restless legs effect this desease?? There has to be aconnection.....also stiffness in shoulder muscles lately..

Re: Pain and Dupuytren's

Hello Linda,I understand after reading all the posts that hand surgery should be my last option, fortunately I do not have any contracture yet,I just feel confused with all the additional symptons I've been having, and on reading that resless leg syndrome, has been diagnosed with many along side Dupuytren's,curious.
I do not have tremor or shaking,or any of the symptons associated with restless leg,yet a neurologist tells me I have it!! and like you I had never heard of any of these conditions.I work in health care,so am aware of a lot of conditions,I feel sure that whats happening to my body is connected,I feel sure that I do not have resless leg.I wonder about the trauma theory!! can this be physical and mental,as I've had both, hopefully soon, I will be able to talk to someone qualified who knows, but from the posts I fear these people are rare, considering the extent of DC this is amazing to me,people having to travel the world in order to get help, for which is quite obviously a very nasty, painful and debilitating desease, hands, feet and god knows what else,Answers, answers thats all I want, this forum and people like you are helping, but yes I wish you well in your life and hang on in there.
regards Susan

Re: Pain and Dupuytren's

HI,
I just was diagnosed today with DC and have started to read about it and learn. So far no contracture but I have a lot of pain and swelling in my middle finger. I had a nodule but my massage therapist told me to just really work it with oil and it would go away which it did. I've also had plantar fascitis which has improved with inserts for my shoes and wearing shoes that give me correct support. I am scheduled for a surgery in two weeks but after reading I've decided not to go there, yet. I've had a lot of pain off and on in my arms which I now think is connected and also some rib discomfort. I didnt even get a chance to think about what my options were. He did suggest I read about it online and I'm grateful he did. He told me that injections wouldnt help and that it could come back after surgery. What I'm wondering is if anyone else ever had swelling and my finger isnt contracted but instead I cant bend it to my palm. It's like it's froze and it's also very sore. Why do the online discriptions of the disease say no pain or hardly any. I'm begining to wonder if DC is what I have except I can feel the tendons on the ring and middle finger and it's apparent something is going on. Thanks for
any help with this.
Fran

Re: Pain and Dupuytren's

Hi Susan and all..

Restless legs you would know...It happens with me just as I am about to drift off..then you or I get a feeling of wanting to move your legs..You cannot get away from it..My legs now involuntarily jerk..if I do not move them and I mean some of the jerks are big..I also get these jerks now at resting in stomach, shoulders, neck..etc..you name it....
I know the feeling of releaf to find this forum....I had never heard of this desease in 98...and in ernest started researching it in about 2002..thus found Dr. Eaton in about 04..
It is much more comforting to get some fast answers from others..or at least some answers or a feeling that you are not alone in this ....
I have wondered if some doctors just do not lump restless legs into a catchall category so insurances will paysomething to someone..like there seem to be alot of payments going from medicare to restless legs, diabetes, apnea...etc...it seems suddenly there are alot of people out there having these things and some docs getting paid...Maybe it has nothing to do with it..Just a thought...
I do not remember so many people on this forum talking about restless legs before and other muscular problems...he was mainly the lumps or contractions....Maybe in comparing we are indeed getting more information and just did not connect the others before...
Susa..Find a doctor on the list for N/A..Good Luck
