OK. I'm going to lose all the credibility I may have gained on this forum, but I've decided to try a magnetic ring and bracelet. I've have always thought and still kinda think it is "hokus pokus" but it's fairly cheap, they're cute and I have talked with 3 people directly who found it helped their conditions - none of which is Dupuytren's or Ledderhose.
1 - One PT that I had didn't believe in it but had to lie down for 2 hours in the middle of the day to even get through the day because his feet hurt so badly - diabetes. After he started using the magnetic inserts, he could stay on his feet all day. He said that he doesn't know if the magnets helped or not but he noted that they were located at typical acupuncture spots on the sole. 2 - A friend had trigger finger. She went to a surgeon who also had trigger finger and felt very confident in him. He recommended a cortisone shot. If that didn't work, he said it's a simple surgery to fix it. She had the cortisone shot and it helped for a while but the trigger finger came back. She was at a fair and they were selling magnetic jewelry at a booth. She decided to try a ring. It's been about 8 months and she has not had the trigger finger since. She doesn't know if the magnetic ring helped or it just stopped on its own. 3 - A friend had a knee replacement and had problems with the recuperation. She had a custom magnetic knee wrap made and said it helped. I'm not sure just how it helped her, but I ordered a magnetic wrap for the knee from the internet for my husband whose knee after replacement only bends about 30 degrees. The surgeon and PT are quite sure it is from scar tissue. His knee hurts quite often, too. He says he will wear it. If he does wear it regularly, we'll see if he sees any difference.
With my order for the magnetic ring and bracelet, they sent an adjustable free magnetic ring. I'm wearing that at night and sometimes during the day as a toe ring on my big toe that has arthritis in it.
I'll let you know if anything happens or if it really all seems to be hokus-pokus. Don't laugh too hard! The jewelry is still cute anyway and I'm having fun with it.
The knee wrap will be nice for my husband in the winter when his knee hurts more when it is cold. It has 3 velcro straps, goes on easily and adjusts nicely.
Notice all the rationalizations I put in for this experiment.
I have heard of the bee sting, but I haven't tried that. Yet!
I am wearing a ring on my right. Since my left hand is showing some symptoms, I am wearing the bracelet on that wrist.
Let's keep laughing. If doesn't harm us and the cost is nominal, why not?
I'll keep posting, but since this disease is so weird, how would I really know results? If it doesn't progress on my left hand (non-RT hand), should I call that the beneficial effects of the magnets?
I have to admit it didn't do much for the disease. I had two stings that day, we then stopped because the bee keeper had caught most of the stings. He still thought it was a great and funny idea. Yes, I did feel the stings ... but the upside was that the bee keeper gave me a glas of home made honey when I left ...
I have been wearing 2 copper magnetic "Sergio Lub" bracelets for 5-6 years on the wrist of the hand that has DD. It has not helped. If you look at my hand under RT treatment in the sidebar, you will see them on my wrist. I never take them off except to polish them. I started wearing them to help my golf swing (it didn't help there either). I fell in love with the bracelets and love the look of them. I will use any excuse to wear jewelry.
