Soaking after surgery

So, have any of you tried soaking to help with the tightness in the hand ? Seems my hand is getting stiffer. I do my exercises and put lotion on and massage too. I do still have some swelling just below all my fingers top top of palm . Seems more so than a couple weeks ago.

Re: Soaking after surgery

The only real soaking I did after my open surgery many years ago was in PT, wherein they used hot wax then wrapped my hand. It felt so good. However, after this Xiaflex, I still have some pain and swelling after 6 weeks. I don't soak my hand, as I'm not in PT, but I do know that the hot shower water feels really good. I do my hand exercises against the shower wall. Maybe this is TMI, but it's what I do.

Re: Soaking after surgery

After my Xiaflex, I'm using this SoftHeat moist heating pad that warms in yer microwave.

Circulation is what they say it helps, anyway it is working and feels good.

I've started using one of those grain type heating pad that goes in microwave. Will see how that works

Re: Soaking after surgery

Hi ,
Try and reduce the swelling. Keep your hand elevated above the heart and flex your fingers often this will help the circulation. Main thing is not to over do things.
I looked at the previous pics and I saw that the surgery included the middle finger. There has been some strong indication by some that Dupuytrens in the middle finger is a strong indicator to Diabetes . I've had many surgeries but none to the middle fingers and no Diabetes. Any sufferers of Diabetes with Dupuytrens to the middle fingers. A response would be interesting.

Re: Soaking after surgery

My infected finger is the ring finger only. Both hands. Had left hand done for now. Only diabetes in my family was my grandmother on dads side.
I am 5 weeks out now. Still some swelling on upper palm below fingers. Trying heat. Flex is pretty good.
