Thanks to this site and forum....
I have discovered this wonderful site and thanks to what I have learned here I am getting radiation therapy for my recently diagnosed DC. I would never have known about these alternative therapies and would be in a depressing watch and wait for surgery mode. My hand surgeon had little to say about alternatives to surgery!!
This is a distressing condition for anyone; however, reading the forum has not only been informative, but has provided a much needed lift to my spirits. There is power in sharing stories and common concerns.
I hope that the radiation is effective. I am a musician and I depend on my hands...
Thanks very much.

raynora,
It's posts like this that keep Wolfgang going, I'm quite sure. Thanks.
Where are you having the radiation done?

Re: Thanks to this site and forum....
Randy,
Believe it or not, I am having the treatments done nearby in New York City... I found a radiation oncologist who was willing to get all the specifics about how it is done from the Doctor in Virginia listed here on the website. She assurred me that the procedure is quite straightforward for a radiologist to do. I start on Tuesday... wish me luck!
Thanks, Wolfgang for running such a good and helpful forum.

radiotherapy in NYC
raynora, would your MD/clinic agree that we publish their contact data on our web site? If you prefer I contact her myself if you provide me with a phone no or e-mail address (my e mail address is w.wach a dupuytren-online.de ). We could also provide some details to your oncologist on how radiotherapy is usually performed in Germany.
Wolfgang

re:radiotherapy in NYC
Wolfgang,
At my consult with the radiologist, I asked him if he was comfortable with me giving his name to this website. I told him that it could mean many requests to do this treatment. He told me that he would like to think about it first. He is, as he said to me, a "cancer doctor".
I would like to have him see the protocol of how the treatment is done in Germany. As I mentioned in my earlier post, he got specific information about radiation therapy from the U.S. contact you have listed.
I will ask him again about releasing his name and information when I see him on Tuesday for treatment.
Thanks,
raynora
