Tomorrow's my surgery

Although I'm new to this website/forum, I've been living with DC (ring finger - right hand, pinkie finger - left hand) for more than 10 years now. Being 27 gives an almost 100% probability this evil will come back again
It's a shame that only recently I found out what I have and decided to do something about it. All this time I knew it was not right and that day is coming sooner or later
For me it runs in the family. Living in the Eastern Europe leaves very little choices for treatment other that the scalpel so about a week ago I decided to do it. I had a conversation with the doctor before but only today I stumbled upon a Wikipedia article which led me to this page Now I know what I will be going through but there's no way back. I have to be able to breakdance again in 2 months!

So anyway, I will be reporting progress on the forum as much as I can

Re: Tomorrow's my surgery

Australia Calling. Good luck .When you wake up and as soon as you can try to wriggle your fingers gently . In my case and Ive had 15 or so operations I believe the earlier you get movement the better , that is of course your not having a graft. Thinking of you. UJ18XX

Thanks for your support!
They will be using local anesthesia so I don't think I will be able to sleep during the whole thing :)

Re: Tomorrow's my surgery

I'm back online with my left hand only I had a chance to see what they took out - nasty.
The surgery itself was painless however I couldn't stand the feeling that came later when the effect of the drugs stopped. Nothing a needle in the butt can't fix
I saw my wound today - not pretty, but I'm no doctor. I have a visit scheduled for Monday so we'll see how that goes.

Re: Tomorrow's my surgery Conan

Australia Calling. Hi Conan You say you are in eastern europe.Where abouts. I was interested to note you are seeing your doctor so soon. In my case and I've just had surgery myself and here it is gererally l4 days later when you see the surgeon to remove the sutures. Maybe they use a different technique tell us briefly.I wish I had seen some of my cuts and tucks but I've always been knocked out . Keep us posted .Regards Barry.

Re: Tomorrow's my surgery

In Germany I had looked at mine the next day and I didn't like what I saw. Actually I was shocked. In the mean time (3 years later) my hand looks well, just a little scarring left, but immediately after surgery the blood and the stitches looked pretty awful, at least to me.

Re: Tomorrow's my surgery

I'm in Lithuania. They put a cast on my hand from the palm to the middle of the arm in order to limit movement for faster healing. I will only have my bandage replaced on Monday. If all is well my next visit will be next Monday (10 days after the surgery) to remove the stitches.
I hope this forum supports posting pictures, I will provide some before/after shots when my hand is free again.

Uploading pics?

Unfortunately this forum still doesn't support uploading of pictures. There is (as usual) hope for the next release of our forum software ...

Re: Tomorrow's my surgery

Conan,

Congrats on uploading your pictures! The only question is why would you operate on hands with straight fingers? When were these taken?
