treatment

I have the tell tale bump on my palm and today I noticed it has grown towards my little finger, i am seeing the doctor next week - mother has had depuytren and had an operation to correct it.

How do I convince the doctor to consider radiation - it seems daft just to wait and let the problem get worse. At the moment all my fingers are straight.

Is Poole the only place in the uk? Is thereanything else i can do to slow it down.

I do not smoke and do like a red wine or two! :)

Poole is the only place at the moment and having received a letter from my GP today saying that it'll need to be referred to the PCT because Poole is outside my county, I think

"I have today telephoned Dr Goode`s Secretary in Poole who has informed me my GP did not need to refer my case to the PCT in Oxford. All she needed to do was to refer directly to the Oncology Dept in Poole. This is good news for all of us in the UK seeking Radiotherapy treatment for Dups.Dr Goode`s secretary kindly telephoned my GP informing her of the procedure and the referral has now been made. I woulld suggest to all of you seeking this treatment to urge your GP to make a direct referral and if you need any help call Dr Goode`s secretary Ann on 01202 442690.Looks like things are moving forward in the UK."

is important to take with you along with the info pages from this site perhaps, I think that you need to be persistent and not take no for an answer if you really want to take the radiotherapy route.

Re: treatment

Australia Calling Hi Trev.
Sounds like you have made a decision. Good point your raised about referrals. It is the same' down under' get the GP to refer direct to the Oncologist. Is it wise to see a surgeon if you are a first timer to make sure that the problem is dups. That does no stop one then getting the referral to the Oncologist. Remember most Oncologist do see many Dupuytrens . Regards.
