Xiaflex success
It has been 2 1/2 years since the Xiaflex injection on my left little finger. I have had no side effects after having strengthened a resulting atrophied left shoulder (which took 4 months after the injection to heal). The finger has been normal with full flexion ever since with a minor visible scar/tissue deterioration. Mine was a mild but nonetheless disabling contraction/case of DC.
I recommend the use of Xiaflex.

Re: Xiaflex success
Congratulations. Two and a half years is definitely encouraging news. That's what all of us here want to hear..... long term effects/prognoses of Xiaflex. So, thank you for your check in. It's so helpful.
I did Xiaflex about one month ago, and it sure seems to be a really good alternative for DC. I have a question for you, though. How long did it take for the stiffness and pain to be totally gone? I'm still dealing with quite a bit of pulling and stiffness, and once that's gone, I feel like I will be "cured". When my hand is no longer a focus of my attention, a preoccupation of my mind, then I will really know that I'm cured. Kind of like a headache. It's misery while it lasts. Then all of a sudden you realize that you no longer have a headache and didn't even think about it for hours. That's what I'm hoping with my right hand. A week will go by and I'll realize that I never even thought about my hand for a week. That's a true measure of success.

Re: Xiaflex success
DCinNYC,
2-1/2 yrs. is indeed encouraging. Could you please share with us what joint was treated, what was the degree of contraction and for how long you had DD before doing the Xiaflex? All these factors I believe contribute to the varied results of all treatments. It would also be helpful for those reading this forum if you could post again in the future, since we are interested in knowing long term results of Xiaflex, being it is a fairly new treatment for DD.
