My own experience with splinting (http://www.dupuytren-online.info/Forum_E...t-0_2023.html#3) has been that it seems to have prevented new contracture, and even reversed a slight contracture when it started 6 months after NA. I sometimes skip a night when it isn't convenient to wear my home-made glove. I have the impression that when I skip more than one night contracture resumes, but then goes away again as soon as I wear the glove for one night. It is something anyone can try at the cost of a cheap bike glove and one ice cream on a stick (or whatever makeshift rigid object you may have at hand)

I obviously don't know how much contracture I would have by now if I hadn't had worn the glove. I'd prefer to never find out. It's similar to my hair loss treatment with the Finasteride molecule (Propecia generic) which I started 16 years ago when I had a lot of stress and the hair loss problem went away. Too much of a chicken to find if I can stop :-).

I don't see how splinting before contracture starts can have any positive effect. I'd wait.

Same here, my pink was contracting more and more (+10%?) and wearing a splint stopped and even put my pink back straight. I'm doing this for +6 months with a self made glove solution and so far so good. It's winter now, my wife does like it cool at night so the gloves come in handy . I also have a contraction on the other hand under control this way.
I must add that I only immobilize at night the first part of the finger, the proximal phalanx. So eventual stiffness might come from the knuckle joint only but so far no issue at all. I will give long term updates.

BTW 5y later still very successful with my DIY splint and no side affects at all. My issue is stable, even improving, likely due to other things (body is very complex)

congratulations to your success with using a night splint! But you might watch whether your hand is getting stiffer eventually (I myself had this feeling after wearing a night splint for a little more than a year). And should you stop splinting contracture may possibly return quickly. You might watch the controversy on the benefit of splinting at the Groningen conference last year (Controversy 2 at the end of session 3 http://www.dupuytrensymposium.com/program_2015.php ).
