Dupytrens
I've had two surgeries on my hands. I am interested whether the needle aponneurotomy can be performed now. It looks like I will need to take care of this problem again. Can someone tell me about the needle treatment.

Reply to Rudy
Hi Rudy,
I don't speak from personal experience, only from having sifted through info. on this forum, but...
My understanding is that if you have had prior surgery, you MIGHT have too much scar tissue to allow needle aponeurotomy to work. If not, N.A. can provide a much less invasive option.
Your best bet to determine whether N.A. is still possible would be to consult one of the M.D.s who offer N.A.
If you scroll down the list of topics you'll see a list of doctors who now offer N.A. The websites mentioned there, plus the other websites listed under various doctors' names, will give you some very good basic information about N.A.
I hope this points you in a useful direction.
Best of luck with your situation!
Susan

2nd Reply to Rudy--M.D. List
In fact, Rudy, here's the list so you don't have to go tracking it down!!
LIST OF DOCTORS OFFERING NEEDLE APONEUROTOMY* TREATMENT FOR DUPUYTRENS CONTRACTURE IN U.S. (Updated 12/11/05) please let us know of any corrections or additions
FOR INTERNATIONAL DOCTORS PERFORMING N.A. see: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/f.badois-dupuytren/html/liste.html
*(N.A. is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure for Dupuytrens which effectively breaks the cords which cause contraction of the fingers, thereby releasing them. The procedure has been available in France for many years with an excellent safety record and was introduced in the U.S. in 2003 by Dr. Charles Eaton. Since then a number of other doctors have begun offering N.A. to their patients as an alternative to open hand surgery.
Drs. Eaton and Kline both have informative websites (see below). Dr. Eaton's site contains some information which is more technical, and Dr. Kline's own experience with Dupuytrens adds a personal touch.)

NA for DC
Had the procedure done by Dr. Pess yesterday. Wish I had known about the procedure sooner as my RF PIP joint was pretty severe. Very pleased with results and now have an appointment with a local (Washington, DC) CHT for therapy post procedure.

NA
I had a banner year. Started in April with Dr. Zidel for LIF, with a bad PIP. Great results. Continued in New Jersey with a RMF with a bad PIP. It was so bad, that I returned to Dr. Pess at the end of December again, and he performed a near miracle for me. I am so pleased with my results, and I am planning on returning to Dr. Zidel for another chance to straighten the LIF. As a 52 y.o. female, I hope to put off surgery for many years to come.

Two different doctors - similar results
I went to Dr Eaton about four years ago and had the NA procedure for the pinkie in my right hand. The results were amazing - more than I had hoped for.
Last week, I went to Dr. Keith Denkler in Northern California for the same procedure - both pinkies this time. My hands were so bad I couldnt get my hands in my pockets, couldnt clap at a performance, couldnt properly wash my hair. He was 'more aggressive' than Dr. Eaton, but both procedures were very, very successful.
Both doctors have websites.
