Collagenase to be used for liposuction

Did anyone else read the article in Woman's Day 4/8/03 regarding surgery free liposuction??

"Starting this year, it'll be possible to melt away fat with a "liposuction injection" rather than surgery-and its a breakthrough stumbled upon by accident! "During a study at the State of New York, doctors testing collagenase, an enzyme that reduces the size of scar tissue, discovered that it also melted away the fat on lab animals' stomachs!......

I was so angry to read that the most promising drug being considered for Dupuytrens' has been approved for FAT in less than one year. I have been waiting for 5 years for the clinical trials to be completed and the FDA to approve the use of collagenase in treating Dupuytrens.

PLEASE CONTACT THE FDA AND YOUR CONGRESSMAN TO PROTEST THE OBVIOUS USE OF LOBBY MONEY TO PUSH THIS DRUG FOR FAT TREATMENT!!!! Those of us with Dupuytrens contractures(mine is very severe in hands and feet) wish the FDA would take notice of the obvious message they are sending to the people who really NEED treatment to live productive lives.

liposuction

It is the same information that made BSTC stock spike about a month ago. Old news, stock has since dropped considerably.

approved?

I assume FDA approval would be necessary and I doubt it's actually been approved. Maybe the magazine was just repeating hype. Did the article actually discuss FDA approval?

lipogenase

If this is quickly approved for fat removal, I'm going to ask my doctor to treat my fat fingers!

parties

Whoa, everybody, slow down. You can't just squirt some of that stuff into your hand and expect a miracle. Remember, it dissolves tissue, and you want to dissolve only the bad tissue, not the good. The idea as I understand it is to inject just enough, into the DC cord, to weaken it so it can be snapped. Part of the 'trial' process is probably devoted to determining what that amount is and where best to inject it.
They won't be doing this at "Botox parties" anytime soon.
