Ganglion Cysts
I've got a ganglion cyst on the dorsum of my right wrist. I've had it drained twice and now we are looking at the option of surgery, which is where I have become concerned. My Orhtopedist wants to use general anesthesia and clip a nerve which he says supplys sensory inervation to that part of the wrist (internal wrist). Has anyone heard of clipping a nerve as part of the treatment for cyst removal?

I had 6 ganglion cysts removed from my wrist 5 or 6 years ago and they didn't come back until recently (when I started doing a type of yoga that uses a lot of hand postures). Anyway, I would definitely suggest getting a second opinion. Never did my Dr. suggest clipping a nerve. He performed an innovative (at the time) surgery on me in which he went in orthoscopically and sucked the cysts out with a small vacuum. My advice: GET A SECOND OPINION!
