pain
I have pain in palm area, as if I had fallen on rock and bruised that area. There is also sensation of "numbness" on top of hand radiating over wrist and up at least to elbow. Does anyone else have this--particularly the palm pain?

I have pain with my dupuytrens
I recently have had pain radiating up to my elbow and numbness, and it is really starting to bother me. I have also noted the cord is spreading down my hand and I think that the cord is pulling and that is the reason for the pain. I have also been using or trying to use my hand more since I switched to 12 hour shifts at work. ( I am a nurse) I do not know how much more I can take and nothing seems to relieve the pain. Feel free to e-mail me.

I have pain with my dupuytrens
Everything I have read or researched on Dupuytrens says that it is a painless condition. Well I say "NUTS!" I have dupuytrens in both hands and feet and mine hurts like hell sometimes. Whoever said that it is a painless condition apparently does not have dupuytrens.

Pain
Pain is too severe a word for me, discomfort is better.
I do not have any contraction yet, but a nodule and pretty fair thickening of the tendons. I am an avid water skier, and I believe that the pulling on the handle helps stretch the tendons out. The palm hurts after this exercise, but I use ice on it to help swelling. I seemed to have better flexability in the summer when I was skiing, but try to stretch my fingers back daily.
If I massage my palm vigorously across the tendons, (which a Chiropractor friend told me is key to help retard the joining of tendons) it hurts more if I bend my fingers back and stretch the tendon. Ice after massage is advised.
The comment about the falling on and bruising seems very approporiate for me as well. Ice seems to help.
I recently had another health problem that required Motrin 800 (anti-inflamatory) twice a day for a few weeks, and that really made my palm feel better, but I wouldn't want to take that daily unless it was a last resort.

Mine hurts like hell too
Was just diagnosed in January, and there's just the slightest contraction in my right middle finger so far. Every time I read that its painless, I want to throw something at whoever wrote it! Nothing seems to help for me, either. Sometimes, heat or cold will help a little, but it's not consistent. I was sent to a hand therapist who showed me stretching exercises and gave me some sponges to squeeze for strengthening. It helped a little, too. It took the pain from something that was controlling my life to something that was just a little distracting. I've also stopped taking glucosamine/chondroitin, and that seems to have helped almost right away. I'm hoping that will continue.
The physical therapist told me she seems a number of people with it, more than she used to, and it's often painful. She said it would be surprising if it wasn't, considering all the nerves in the hand that would be affected by the tightening and pulling.
Anyway, my husband is sure we can beat this thing through sheer will, bless his heart, so I will continue to stretch and squeeze my sponges and hope for the best.

pain
Yes, my hands hurt all the time. The nodes hurt and so do my DD fingers. Hot water help the pain. Warm weather does too. Cold makes it hurt more.
