Dr Eaton Examination-Procedure

I have little or no curl in my fingers but can't get my right palm flat maybe 1/2 inch to an inch from flat.I have a hard pit/line like growth in almost the middle of my palm leading to my ring finger. I also have a small lump at the base of my thumb. I live on Long Island, NY and would have to travel to Florida to see Dr Eaton. If I need a procedure would he examine me and do it right away or the next day? Or would he require me to have to fly back at a later date?

I am..in about 6 months as this desease is one of progression... Everyone is different...........EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT...This desease moves at different progressions for different people.......READ ALL THE POSTS BELOW...GATHER YOUR INFO. Dr. Eaton exam

Linda, Did I understand he did your right (better one)that day? My right hand sounds like yours maybe slightly worse. I definitely can't lay it flat, there is a firm pucker with an internal band leading to the base of my ring finger with no curl. It doesn't really bother me that much, just can't lay it flat or open my hand all the way. I'm 56 and it started about 5 or 6 years ago and is progressing rather slowly. I'm inclined to do nothing right now but just wanted an idea in case it started to worsen rapidly to know what my options were.

Dr. Eaton exam

Yes. I went to Jupiter on May 19th..checked into hotel got settled... went over and found Dr. Eaton's office, which was about 2 miles away and checked it out. lol.. to make sure it didn't look like a dump..or some wierdo office.
My first appointment was on left hand...worse hand with a curl at 80% on pinkie.. I have several cords still on that hand that have to be delt with in future.. running across palm and to pointing finger to palm.. They are not hard yet.. but large. Dr. Eaton did not touch these soft, large cords...said, not ready yet. He did about 5 little needle holes in left hand to release pinkie... It went from 80& curvature to 30%. It keeps wanting to go back slowly to curve.. but, brace helps alot... THEY MAKE A BRACE FOR YOU THERE. I am suppose to send a picture of hand at 3 months.
Right hand....When I called for an appointment.. I was told that my right hand might not be done because it might not be advanced enough..
MY RIGHT HAND DID NOT LAY COMPLETELY FLAT ON TABLE, JUST A LITTLE RAISED IN MIDDLE.
It had puckering and pitts in the middle of palm....you can see little cords going this way and that way,,but, not a problem yet.
Dr. Eaton went in on May 24...second appointment date...and did right hand... total time abut 25 minutes with another consultation..wanted to know if I had anymore questions..I said, no...Let's do it...
It was a little different than other hand.. He snipped the cords in the palm, middle of palm and a few by my thumb...
then measured the distance between thumb and little finger by pulling my fingers apart as wide as they could go.... I gained 5/8 of an inch in expansion.
So, first appointment on left hand the 21st and second appointment right hand 24th..week end in between.
I had filled out all medical papers over phone. Dr, Eaton's office did send me a packet ahead of time..though.
You go into office...have a few minutes of questions.. he takes pictures of before..does the N.A...takes a couple more pictures.. gives you instructions on ice bag..and you are out of there...I did not have to do consultation one day and go back the next for procedure. No wasting of time here.
My right hand now still lays flat on table....
I am going back..because...new cords form...All hands are different....a different way the Dups forms under top layer of skin. On my right hand when he snipped the pitts in middle, he said, Wow, look at that.. I said.. What..
Dr. Eaton explained that dups..moved or shifted around under the skin... like a sheet that has been folded... I don't know how to explain this any better. Sorry.
All I know is I have seen traditional surgery on friend in Palm Springs....a total mess of scars....I will go to Florida once a year if I have to..
I know it is expensive to fly and stay,, but, it buys some time until more Dr.s wake up.
I was out of his office each time.. frozen bottle of water in hand and off to lunch or sight seeing...NO PROBLEM
Hand is numb for about 24 hrs.
Like I said.. I gained 5/8 of an inch in 15 minutes.
I personally would not wait if cord is hard enough to cut... Dr. Eaton will tell you if it is.. but, if it is lifting hand, I would take a quess thatit is ready to snip.
There is more damage to left with curl.. because there was no place to go to have it snipped in U.S.
When I say damage.. I mean scar tissue that has hardened and stiffened and keeps litte finger pulled down.
i HOPE i HAVE HELPED..
