i got rid of it

Hi there. well Im now 32 years old, my DC started coming back 2 years ago, but Ive been doing the Bikrams hot yoga program for just under 2 years and the DC has stopped. Actually it has atrophied, got smaller, and has no chance of growing because I do the yoga 3-4 times a week. Its about lifestyle folks. If you dont take care of yourself, youre going to get DC, or cancer, or MS, or something that could be horrible. Clean your body, inside more than out, and you will be healthy and live a long life. Im actually amazed at how such a good thing came out of a potentially horrible thing; Im a career musician (at 32, my career is still starting, has been 'starting' for the past 10 years) and DC would have crippled my guitar fretting hand beyond use. Im lucky I discovered a program that works for me; i hope you all can as well.

Sincerely,

Murray Atkinson

Treatments

Murray,
Great if you think it is working for you. I think most of us are aware that lifestyle can have an effect on Dupuytren's. But also, be aware that Dupuytren's does not move in a straight line. Almost everyone notices that there are dormant stages and even regressive stages of Dupuytren's. I have heard, what seems like hundreds, of people who think they have discovered something that alters the growth of Dupuytren's only to come into a growth stage and be very disappointed. People are always quick to think they have discovered something when what they are doing, coincides with a dormant phase. It can be very misleading. Dormant stages can last from several years to the rest of a person's life. Every person is different.

I'm sure that what you are doing, probably is beneficial for you. You know what they say, no harm, no foul.

Bikram Yoga for DC = ABSURD

To claim that Bikram yoga helps or cures DC is about as stupid a comment as I have read on this forum. Anybody with half an ounce of grey matter should be able to figure that out.

Bikram yoga, named for its founder, Bikram Choudury, is a relatively strenuous type of yoga which is practiced in a hot room, thus the nickname, "hot yoga". The rooms may be heated to up to 115 degrees Fahrenheit, with the average from 90-110 degrees. Bikram yoga works due to the tourniquet effect: stretching, balancing (using gravity), and creating pressure all at the same time. The blood supply in arteries and veins is being cut off, creating pressure. When released, a lock gate effect is created, causing blood to rush through veins and arteries, flushing them out. Also, pressure is applied to the heart by its relative position to the rest of the body. When the blood rushes through it takes oxygen deeper into the tissues than during normal activity. Healing and strengthening occurs when oxygen reaches damaged and underutilized cells.

Bikram Yoga

A quote from the egomaniac Chodram Bikram:

"I am bulletproof, waterproof, fireproof, windproof, money-proof, sex-proof, emotion-proof. Nothing in the world can take my peace away from me."

Bikram is a money hungry opportunist that has taken sexual advantage of his students with the claim that he was saving their lives. He is a snake oil salesman of the first order.

Yogiraj Bikram Choudhury

Yogiraj Bikram Choudhury is a wonerful, moral man.

Yogiraj Bikram Choudhury is the founder of the worldwide Yoga College of India™. Born in Calcutta in 1946, Bikram began Yoga at the age of four with India's most-reknowned physical culturist at that time, Bishnu Ghosh, the younger brother of Paramahansa Yogananda (Author of the most popular book on Yoga, The Autobiography of a Yogi, and founder of the Self Realization Fellowship in Los Angeles).
Bikram practiced Yoga at least four to six hours every day at Ghosh's College of Physical Education in Calcutta. At the age of thirteen, he won the National India Yoga Championship. He was undefeated for the following three years and retired as the undisputed All-India National Yoga Champion.
At seventeen, an injury to his knee during a weight-lifting accident brought the prediction from leading European doctors that he would never walk again. Not accepting their pronouncement, he had himself carried back to Bishnu Ghosh's school, for he knew that if anyone could help to heal his knee, it was his teacher. Six months later, his knee had totally recovered. Ghosh was a celebrated physical culturist and the first to scientifically document Yoga's ability to cure chronic physical ailments and heal the body.

Bikram was asked by Ghosh to start several Yoga schools in India. There Bikram came into his own. The schools were so successful that at Bishnu's request Bikram traveled to Japan and opened two more. He has since brought his curative methods of Yoga therapy around the world.

Deluded Disciple of Money Hungry Guru

I'd suggest you take your sale pitch elsewhere, it cannot offer any benefit to sufferers of DC, and if not totally brainwashed try investigating your 'Guru' from a more objective angle. There are numerous articles available detailing the abuses and money hunger of this individual.

Plus if you have the courage (something I doubt since your last post implies blind uncritical worship of a fellow human being) I suggest you look into the book 'The Guru Papers'.

I can't help but wonder if the posts regarding regarding Bikram are merely an attempt to exploit a new market.

Bikram the Scoundrel

And from the Washington Post regarding this 'wonderful moral man':

Choudhury's response to yoga sex scandals "is brilliant". "He claims that his students blackmail him into having sex with them. 'What happens when they say they will commit suicide unless you sleep with them?' he asks. 'What am I supposed to do? Sometimes having an affair is the only way to save someone's life'."
