Collagenase
Ellie, I hope your Father does well. The "enzyme" therapy is discussed in a previous thread "Collagenase" posted most recently Nov 9, 2004 (as of this posting.) Auxilium is the pertinant subject. In a nutshell, in my opinion, "enzyme" therapy is still years off in the future (if ever) for Dupuytrens treatment. I believe that trials are still in progress at Stoney Brook and Stanford Universities in the US. Financial incentives seem to be the barrier to progress. Drug companies have more incentive to treat chronic illnesses affecting large populations rather than short term treatment for a relatively smaller population. Statins is a good example of the former. BTC is not Merk nor Pfizer. NA is the best alternative at present for most of us. Some individuals may still benefit from traditional surgery. Hopefully,Doctors and patients work out those details in the patient's best interest. Good luck.
