Excellent website
Thanks for posting this article, Sean. Very informative. What is RSD? It's not explained anywhere.

What is RSD
Reactive Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD). For me it is the continous swelling of my hand and wrist after elbow surgery and then again after Dupuytren's & Carpal Tunnel surgery. The swelling increases when my hand is less active, like at night.

chronic pulmonary disease
Has anyone experienced chronic pulmonary disease in association with D/C ??? I've had bronchitis twice in the last 3 months and cannot seem to shake it. Antibiotics and strong cough meds do not help one bit. Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Miriam

Chronic colds
From the time the first lump showed up on my pinkie finger, I've had an increased amount of colds. I had surgery last September and this winter I've been sick almost constantly with colds, sinusitis, sore throats and coughs - none of which wants to go away. I used to get two colds a year. One in November and one in March and they would last 5 days exactly and be finished. There's GOT to be a connection!
Thanks, Dave, for the information on the swelling. I'm sure that's my problem, too. The changes in the size of my ring finger (next to the pinkie that was operated on) is amazing. In the morning, I can't wear any of my rings and by evening it's (usually) much better. Do you find that the heat or cold also causes a change? Wendy

exercises for after sugury
Wendy, We've wondered about if or how the immune system may have an effect on DC as well. I have spent some time re- searching other negative substances created by the body, like keloids, kidney & gall stones, antibodies, etc. While I've only spent a limited time on this, there were some similarities between a few. For instance people who have a tendancy to develop kidney stones are advised to reduce their intake of vitamin C, same as with DC. There are references to weakened liver function for both too. I read that patches of lymphoid tissue surrounding the small in- testine screen serve as a switch to turn the body's immune response to foreign substances on and off. I would be in- terested in studies relating to your question if anyone is aware of any. I am in favor of vitamins in general, even though I know that some supplemental products can be harm- ful, however after checking with a Dr, Richard started taking a garlic tablet daily as an immune system stimulator. We were told that it doesn't have harmful side effects. He has only been doing so for about 3 weeks so who knows? Good luck, Mary Beth & Richard
