hypertension drugs

Beta Blocker agents are a family of drugs used to control hypertension and control heart rhythms. They are widely used many people for high blood pressure. As a matter of fact, if you look at the inserts for any of these brands of drugs, it indicates a very small percentage of people HAVE REPORTED PEYRONIES disease in clinical trials. I started taking a beta blocker about twenty years ago and immeidately got Peyronies. Luckily, it was a mild case. Now, twenty years later, I have the onset of Dupuytrens.

What is my guess? If you have a genetic predisposition to these diseases, it could be that beta blockers could trigger it. I stopped taking them immediately after the discovery of Peyronies. I won't take them again just because of the link between the two diseases. If you are taking anything for hypertension, you should know what family it is in. Beta blockers are usually the strongest and are the last resort in controlling hypertension. If you are concerned, do some research. MOST beta blockers have GENERIC names that end with 'olol'. Propranolol, etc.
I am just throwing this out there as an FYI. Everyone has to do what they have to do.

re:

Calcium channel blockers would be the drug of choice (I would think) because verapimil is a CCB.
