Is NA treatment available in Australia

I have early stages of DD, and wondering if there is anyone doing NA treatment in Australia. Also, at what stage is it recomended having the NA treatment and can you repeat the treatment when nessesary. This forum has been extremely helpful for me to understand and come to terms with this disease, thanks to all contributers.

You are not doing enough researching if you ask these questions.

In reply to Jim's post:

Jim, you are being a bit unfair I think. Kenny has asked a reasonable question, and your answer (as unspecific as it is) hasn't helped Kenny at all, who, like most of us on the forum, most likely has DC and wants some relief from this disease and some questions answered.

For Kenny:

I live in Brisbane, and, to my knowledge, NA is not practised in Australia (unfortunately, in my view). I don't know what the prospects for the acceptance of NA in Australia are, but I would suggest that it won't happen here until the procedure is approved and accepted in the States (which I think will be at about the same time that hell freezes over).

Until then, the only invasive procedures available will be the standard fasciectomies. There is a particularly strong view in Australia amongst hand surgeons that DC should be treated only by operation, and only when, as my orthopod put it, "you can't place your hand flat on the table anymore". Don't forget, Australian surgeons have been strongly influenced by the work and studies of Australian Dr Hueston, who studied and operated on DC mid last century, and who was considered a world expert in DC. While Dr Hueston's studies were relevant back then, I would like to think that we have moved on and "get with the program" (as our American friends would say). A lot of good work has been done in Canada and Europe - why don't we keep up with those guys?

I'll get off the soap box now.

Keep the chin up, Kenny.

John

NA in Australia

Thanks John, for your encouragement and kind words. I've never been over-seas and am thinking of treating myself and family to a trip to europe. Whilst there I'll check out Dr. Badois in France. As it so happens a friend of mine is a top Aussie orthopedic doctor, it was he who noticed I had the disease. As you suggested, he only believes in surgury as a treatment, however I'm keen to give NA a go when it becomes nessesary.
Regards, Kenny
