NA treatment for dupuytrens

I was wondering if there is anywhere in Britain that performs NA for people suffering from dupuytrens ? It seems that the nearest place is Paris. How would you know what doctor to choose and would there be a problem with the language and translation. I would want to be sure I understood all that was happening !

NA

To my knowledge there is nobody performing NA in this country, though the reason for this is a mystery, though I have my own theory on this one...

There just does not seem to be any discussion, any headway being made. I just cannot fathom it at all.

Our only option at this time, it would seem, is Paris, other French locations or the other recommended practitioners in Europe and beyond. Even someone in Brazil is doing NA.....

I followed the advice of the kind lady who recommended I contact my local PCT and although they were very polite, they had not heard of the disease, the NICE guidance and basically did not have a clue. I got the usual old advice to go and see my GP.....PLEASE ! Is there really any hope!

We could carry on like this for ages unless someone makes a stand.

NA procedure for DC

Bindy,

Being in England Paris would be your best location for the Needle Aponeurotomy for treating your Dupuytren's Contracture. You ask about speaking English: Dr. Francis Badois, 13, avenue du General de Galle, 95230 SOISY SOUS MONTGOMERY, (Outskirts of Paris), Phone: 01.30.40.53.88, E-mail: dr.fbadois@wanadoo.fr speaks excellent English. You would not have any proble communicating with him. He is well experienced in the NA procedure.

It is suggested that that you send photos of your hands and fingers to Dr. Badois (Pronounced Bad way)to see if you are a good candidate for the NA procedure. The best to you. God bless.

Don't accept what the PCT says - this is an accepted procedure which is recommended for the NHS and should be availalbe and is not.
Ask the PCT to reimburse the costs of your treatment in France and travel and the costs of travel for a carer. If they refuse make a complaint under the NHS complaints procedure. I have been involved in cases of people going abroad for treatment not availalbe in the UK where the individual made a complaint because reimbursement was refused and the decision was overturned. This may be the only way they will give it any attention.
Good luck
I have had one treatment for stage 4 with Dr Lermusiaux. I have raised it with the PCT. The PCT asked the local hospitals for comments who made silly remarks about how dangerous the procedure was. I am going to have another go at my PCT after the second treatment next week.
I have not bothered to ask for reimbursement yet because it only costs me 60 Euro and it was enormous fun. But I am keeping the receipts and I will ask for the money if I do not get a satisfactory answer from the PCT about their policies.
If you are on a hospital waiting list for surgery, after 6 months you should be offered to transfer to another hospitl for surgery under the Patient's Choice initiative. My 6 months on the waiting list is the day of my 2nd visit to Paris so that should be interesting.

n.a in London and Lausanne

Montie,

I'd recommend having surgery done only after NA is either deemed inappropriate or fails to give satisfactory results. The #1 clinic for NA in the US is at

I have had four surgeries and so my hands are very difficult for the N.A procedure. I had one attempted N.A at the London clinic in Harley Street. Not successful, but it is a difficult case Just recently I went to Geneva and had brilliant treatment from a Doctor who introduced na to switzerland in 1994. You can fly easyjet to geneva. Then train to Yverdun les Bains. Stayed in a motel right opposite the Centre Thermale. I really expected him to refuse to try, but he took it on and achieved great things, but still not perfect. 3 sessions in all, plus the initial consultation. Cannot reccommend him too highly, and when I get his consent, I will give his name. He also has a colleague doing the procedure. He has also treated friends of mine successfully.

Recovery is so quick compared to surgery, it has to be the way to go. good luck
